I found a 12 bolt rear end suposedly with a cbw code that has a 3969341 center housing. I was under the impression that the 70's used a 3969341NF. I don't have the date codes yet. Can someone give me the keys that I should be looking for to verify it as a deuce rear and not a fake? you can email me at
[email protected] or pm if you prefer. thanks! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/confused.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/dunno.gif

I believe all center sections are the NF's. Either way, if you found a CBW rear - a real one - buy it and don't worry about the center section, Just buy it for the axle tube!
Let me know the date code that is stamped with the CBW on the tube. These dates are very consistent, and if it's a real one from a Deuce, I will be able to tell which order of cars it was from. Remember, these cars were all made in 3 consecutive weeks, and there aren't a couple hundred non-yenko copo's built like the '69 Camaro's with their BE rears. So, be careful!

The real question here may be, if the guy with the CBW rear knows where the rest of the car is. Schonye

casting date is J39, says code on tube is cbw1021g1. that would be a 70 model year car right? seems far off from may/june though. I guess it could be a 69 camaro 4.56 ratio housing that was miss marked or remarked with an additional c. thoughts??

Bummer, the dates are very wrong, way too early. I have 20 rear dates from the 80 or so deuces found so far. The earliest date is 0512 (5), 0513 (9), 0602 (2), 0612 (1), & 0617 (3). The dates on the rears can be later than the cars, but only for the 06B build week, hence the dates of 0617 being later than 06B.
Doesn't appear to be a legit Deuce rear, not sure why that code is on there since it wasn't reused until later in the '70's.

It kinda looks like a 69 Camaro rear, but I've never seen a 69 with a BW (or CBW on late cars) axle. Not uncommon in 68, but not 69.
