Are you referring to Prout Chevrolet?

Good guess, that is what it was. I went to cleavland to pick up some parts from a guy who knows about an x-11 copo from that dealer. He said it has been taken apart and been in a one car garage for many years. Anyone know about this car? He said they sold about 5-7 copo's, and this one is one that most people do not know about. He said others have been found. Thanks,Roger

Roger,
Prout has been discussed quite a bit over the years. I believe The Super Car Workshop was restoring a Prout Copo Camaro. They also sold COPO Chevelles, but none have been found to the best of my knowledge.

-------Being an Ohio boy(originally)Im wondering where Prout was or is in Ohio.I used to go all over the state looking at cars but dont remember that name.Does anyone remember the name of the Chevy dealer in Washington Courthouse? It was very performance oriented.Got my 1969 435 Vette from Ed Stinn in Cleveland, but dont know if he was considered a perf. dealer or not...........Bill S

Prout was in Elyria Ohio, just off route 20 and I-80.Ed Stinn did sell quite few performance cars.I would consider it a Hi-Po dealer. Not to sure on the other one you mentioned Red....Oh yeah,I have heard of this COPO as well....

Steve,

------Do you remember Heintzleman Chevrolet on Rt.42 just north of Medina? Not particularly a high perf. dealer but a pretty good number of fast cars went thru there,as thru so many Ohio dealers during the era.Almost bought a new 68 L89,loaded Vette from there in 1969.It was a left-over but couldnt get anybody to co-sign with me.He sold the dealer shortly thereafter.
-------The owner even gave his daughter a 66 Vette to drive.Of course, she was in big demand after that.Would love to know what happened to her as she was a real cutie............Bill S

It's hard to believe but I have never heard of them. They must have been across the street (west side) from D&L Salvage?? I know there is another Cheverolet dealer there now.I collect most of the dealer stuff from my area, it must have been a small dealer in the day. That area has had a massive growth spurt in the last 15 years!!

We are still working on the Prout COPO Camaro. It seems that most if not all were fleet ordered with 9737, no spoilers, M22, and center fuel gauge with in dash tach...BKH
