How would one go about finding the original owners of my two 69 Camaros. I have both titles and have the vin numbers. Both cars were built in (LOS). Where do I go from here? Is there a website that can assist me in this venture? Thanks!

You might want to post this in the general discussion section. Should get a response there...... or try searching the archive for this info....

Nope don't have to now, I have accomplished in getting all the previous owners names on both my cars. It was easy for me! You just have to know how to do it. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/headbang.gif

You didn't know how to do it on the 16th so you asked for help.
You got some advice on the 23rd, but you didn't need it because you know how to do it.
Hmmmmnnn.

I didn't on the 16th, but I sure did on the 22nd!
It always helps when you run into a good friend that has the right connections. It only took 2 days to find all the previous owners! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/scholar.gif

I don't think I was bragging. I was just very happy to finally come up with the names and addresses of the previous owners of my cars. If anything you should be happy for me, and not give me a /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbsdown.gif
As for a favor, I was going to share all the info with a couple of you this week sometime, but I am now hesitant due to a couple of negative threads/PM's I have received. I would be thrilled to read that another musclecar member finally found the answers he has been searching for. I would have also been thrilled to share my info, but unfortunatley I have no option but to pass for now. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/flag.gif

THE LAST FEW WEEKS ITS BEEN KINDERGARDEN! ITS ALL /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/bs.gif. ALL YOU GOT TO DO IS GO TO CITY HALL OR YOUR STATES DEPT OF RECORDS AND LOOK UP THE NAME. IF YOU HAVE HIS LICENSE NUMBER THAT WOULD BE BETTER,BUT IF HE'S ALIVE YOULL FIND HIM! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/scholar.gif

Mr T,
We are all happy for you.
The idea of this forum is to share information, which means sometimes you give, and other times you take.

You do have a choice, no one is forcing you not to share your experience. If you choose not to share, that's more of a reflection on you, not whomever offended you.

What if you do not have a name.
All I have is the vin.
Thanks

Mark, and others,
If you only have the VIN, this task can be a lot harder than just running down to your local court house. A lot depends on the state that you are searching in. PA is fairly easy, but you get minimal information, IA and MD are excellent, Virginia and New Jersey are pretty difficult.

Let me know with a PM what state you are searching in, and I can try to help as best I can.

I need someone in NY to run one for me on my '69 Motion Vette. I am at a deadend otherwise. I don't have a clue as to how to locate the original owner after Joel. If anybody could do it for me I would be glad to pay them for their time.

Larry,

I have had limited luck in NY. There is a NY DMV website where you can down load the form needed to start the title search. Good luck.
