It's in a book called "Camaro" by Holder and Kunz... If this works I have a scan for you...

In the book they explain that there were other models used when displaying the car. Here's a rare shot of same pose with some real cuties!! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/haha.gif

Anybody know what the front emblem on this car says? Who customized this car, Barris?

I was wondering about the fender emblems, not the grille.
Thanks,

I believe it says "Waikiki" and then "By Chevrolet" under it like the Camaro By Chevrolet logo. The car was a Chevrolet concept car. There was susposed to be another one with a pickup box instead of a trunk called "Caribe" but I've never found a pic of it... /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/3gears.gif

The Waikiki Camaro & Caribe Camaro were 2 Camaros built by Chevrolets Show & Display Dept.,rather than the GM styling Dept.
Chevy found that it could build mildly Customized show cars faster and for less money in it's own exhibit shops, rather then having Bill Mitchells boys do it...which really pissed Bill off.
I have a good friend who had Polaroids of the Caribe being built,as well as an original Concept painting of it,and is still in touch with the Designers of these 2 Camaros today.
Sadly,as of yet,no one can find out if these 2 special Camaros still exist..... /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/frown.gif

You don't think Kevin, Denis and Jeff are hiding them, do you? /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/naughty.gif

From "CAMARO! Chevrolet's Classy Chassis" by Ray Miller
"1967 Camaro WAIKIKI. Based on a SS350 Convertible, it featured teak wood side panels and wood-bar grill, it also had deep-pile gold carpeting and yellow and okra vinyl seats, and a specialy-made trailer hitch and trailer. On its wire wheels were oversized G70 x 15 tires. Its front and rear side-mounted marker lights and its dual rear view mirrors were among items that later appeared on production cars. An interesting feature were the taillamps whose color changed from green to amber to red as they detected the accelerator and the brake pedal."
