Did any body get the Dec issue of Hemmings Muscle machines there is a good write up
About Tom Caryís ( Dick Harrell funny car) lots of good pictures also there is a good article about FAST drag racing

Yes, it was a good writeup. It sounds like that car was a challenging restoration.

The article mainly explained what F.A.S.T is ( factory appearing stock tire) The event took place in Norwalk this past July despite 90 degrees and high humidity records were made Terry Penningtons ZL-1 recorded low et at 11.331 at 125.6 mph Jolel Nystroms 97 GTX recorded top mph at 126.1 Terrys rival Dave Dudek 69 GTX ran
11.339 at 125.1 mph Peter Simpson in his ZL 1 ran 12.18 at 110.6 mph to his cousin Jimmy Johson COPO Nova 12.38 at 113.3 mph COPO Pete came in at 12.08 at factory stock there was also a 200.00 dollar bonus for any racer that hit the 11s for the first time of the day the finals saw Terry Pennington ZL1 at 11.40 at 123.6 mph to win to Greg Gessler Buick GS at 11.66 at 120.0 mph there was a lot of pictures

One quick question, they show Pete Simpson lining up agains a 69 nova that they say is a COPO? I thought there were no COPO novas other than the 50 1968 L78/th400 cars. So what could this COPO 69 nova be?

This would be a misprint! Jimmy did race my 1970 COPO Nova for years, and when he painted his SS 396 car (shown here) I always joked it was a wannabe. People still get them mixed up to this day. He sold his a month ago, so that won't happen again.

Oh, okay. Nice job, and nice car Mr. Simpson. I like to see someone that has nice cars, and does not have a major fear for using them for what they were made. I loved that article in Muscle Car Review with the Camaro, Chevelle, and LT-1 Nova.
