It's a 2nd week of December 1966 302 MO bare block. He told me he would sell it but it would not be cheap. Any ideas on what I should offer? He will not put a price on it. Mark

Is there a vin# on that block? It could be one of the first 25 built, if it is real. Roger

Is it standard bore? Does it mag ok? Remember the MO is just a suffix code. That block is really no better than any small journal 327 block.I believe they are all 2 bolt mains. Also if the date isn't correct for your application, you might as well wait till you can get a correct dated block. If everything checks out I guess it is worth 700-800 maybe the guy that owns the car it came out of will give you more. JMO.... Sam /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

All 1967 Z/28's used that block along with the 1967 327 and the 350. This info. came from Jerry MacNeish's book. I forgot that the early 350's were small journal. Good block to have. Standard bore? Early Z! What do they want for it? Sam /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/beers.gif

You could check with Jerry MacNeish (who operates the 67 Z28 registry) to see if the car is known, based on the partial VIN.

The 67 350's did use the same casting block but they were large journal. Chevy never made a small journal 350.

You are right about that. I thought that the early 350's were small journal, but I was wrong. Same block casting, but large journal. What made me think that it was small journal was the 302's and the 327's were small journals. I guess Chevy casted 2 blocks. Also correct me if I am wrong. How about the chevy 11 blocks they were also different. Spin on filters or cannister filters? Help me. Sam /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/dunno.gif
some early V8 Nova blocks had filter and clutch piviot in different location and these block are hard to find

Joe, I think you are right. I think 1968 is when Chevy started the spin on filters across the board. Sam

My December-built 67 SS 350 has a canister filter, if that's what you're asking.
