Hello,
How's it going ?

I tried to find the car on their website but couldn't. Do you know any details ? What are they asking for it and is it real ?

Thanks for your help.

Sincerely, Steve Goddard

Steve,
Here is the link.
They are asking $225K. It is real.

http://www.americanstreetmachines.com/xC...OPO-Camaro.html (http://www.americanstreetmachines.com/xCars/PageId/11/Classic-Chevrolet-1969-COPO-Camaro-For-Sale/Id/1/1969-COPO-Camaro/ProdId/445/LId/0/1969-COPO-Camaro.html)

The car still does not have the original engine. I sold the engine to another member here, and I know he still has it.

That's all I will say about the car.
Eric

Yes, it is real.
Yes, I still own the car.
The car has 16,141 original miles on it and a complete owner history.
American Street Machines is listing it on their website.

I took the car to the Mecum auction last week and I did not sell it. Instead of hauling it back, I left it with Stefano. Who better to leave a COPO with?

So why isn't the original engine with the car? If it's where abouts are known then shouldn't it be with/in the car to command that kind of a price.

Stefano

It has a properly dated "restoration" block. The current owner of the original block does not want to sell it.

An original sheet metal, original drive train COPO, in this condition would have a much higher asking price than the current asking price of $210,000.00.

Interesting. That's a shame about the current owner of the block. I couldn't sleep at night knowing that I had an engine that belonged in a car of that caliber.

May I ask a few questions please ?????

1) I have seen pictures recently of several 69 COPO's (Yenko's) that have FIRESTONE WideOval RWL Tires. Seems that I had read previously that Goodyear Wide Tread RWL were most correct in 1969. I was thinking that the FIRESTONE was not correct until 1970 like on my 70 SS Camaros.

2) Which 1969 Camaro COPO's received Black rocker panels and/or Black Tailpanels like Don Stowers YENKO. I have an X-11 Camaro that I would like to add the Black rocker panels (in WHAT shade of Black??) and also add the small pin stripe to fenders and qtr panel......but what about Black Tailpanel???

Please explain !!!!!!!!!!! <font color="orange"> </font>

Stefano

No!~please place this question in the proper forum.

COPO
11-21-2006, 02:55 AM
Chuck, black tail panel &amp; rockers would be an X-66 coded Yenko/COPO, X-11 would get just the rockers, and X-44 neither.

Yes,it could've been mounted on the rear panel.
I always thought it was one of the most simple and attractive pot metal emblems they made for that time. http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/beers.gif

Mike: Stefano's point was that *no one* has a complete list of COPO anything produced, so saying something is a "1 of whatever" is simply a guess...maybe the "1 of 4" was cars in Ed's database [read: found cars]? Either way, no major harm...cool combo though... http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/burnout.gif

Stefano,After reading your post I realized what you were saying!!!No the dealer did not get 4 of the same car's!!!If the vin's were still available from Ed It showed what Sport Chevrolet received, now noing what the vin registry had listed according to Ed's list, the dealer received 1 ZL1 it sold on e-bay A while back for 1 million dollar's and approx 4 9561's acouple were sent back to GM and of course the one's that sold were different color's,Did anyone save the vin list before he took it off????(Small Car Dealer's)Thanks Mike http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/ooo.gif

Sweet! I like to hear about folks finally finding their *keeper* car, no matter what it is! And it sounds like you've got a keeper for sure! http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/biggthumpup.gif Stupid question from me, but is the car restored, awaiting resto, original, etc?

As for the list, I *personally* don't have a copy...someone posted here a while back they had a copy, but I can't remember who?

Could be wrong but I don't think that ZL1 sold on Ebay although it was listed there a few times. I think the owner of Hearbeat City still owns it.

Sport Chevrolet is about 20 miles from me. The owner is a friend of mine and a car nut too. His family has owned the dealership for quite sometime and a couple of the guys that worked there back in the day still are there. When Jim's ZL1 went on Ebay the first time I sent a link to my friend who couldn't believe the $'s. I asked him to see if they had any of the old paperwork still but when he took over from his father 9 years ago they tossed out all that old paperwork. The current general manager today started out there as a salesman in the mid 60's. If I remember correctly that particular ZL1 first went to Lustine Chevrolet in Hyattsville MD where it didn't sell and was re-allocated to Sport Chevrolet. Lustine's buildings still stand today but are to be torn down as the area is going through a redevolopment. For those who know the University of Maryland, Lustine is just a few miles past U of MD on route 1. It looks like the buildings date back to somewhere around 1930 and it was state of the art at it's time. I need to take some pictures before the wrecking ball gets there. It's been area that has been neglected for the past 20 years and really needs an overhaul.

The old signs are long gone too by the way.....I went looking for some the same time Charley was showing us his new addition. Somebody beat me to them!

If you go to the DMV in maryland and do a history search they can go all the way back to 69 and might give you some aditional information on the car.
