The intake is for 1968-69 396/375HP L-78/L-89 and 427/425HP COPO. I'm not sure what its' worth but it looks to be a very desirable intake. What condition is it in? I'm sure someone on this board would like to have it. I have a Pontiac question for you. A classic car dealer here has a 1963 Catalina 421. He says it has the original engine and transmission, a 389/w 2 4bbls & 4speed. Did these cars come with a 389 with 2 4bbls? The car has been restored and looks great from what I saw. It is red with red interior. Any idea what it is worth? I know very little about the value of these cars.
Thanks, James

63 SD catalinas and GP were all 421s,there were some 389 Sds in 62 and 61s were ALL over the counter parts. There were NO 2-4 389s ever from the factory.Find out what the head number is and I can tell you more, last 3 numbers on the Sd heads were 127 or 980.If anyone is inteested in the intake I can email a pic.It is in good shape, just needs cleaning up.Tom

It looks like the only engine option to get the 2x4BBL carbs was the 421. Here's a link to Pontiac Engine codes (http://www.teufert.net/pontiac/engcodes.htm).
Hope this helps...

Thanks for the info. I will try to check the numbers in the next few days. This guy is the only classic and muscle car dealer in the area. He gets some decent cars but they need to be checked very closely. I'm not saying he will tell a lie, but he is not always truthful.

Tom, here is an intake like the one your friend has. It should give you a good idea what to sell it for.

tjs,
------While these are good intakes and used on many of the cars so treasured by the guys on this board, there are quite a few of them out there. Prices have crept up on them a bit, along with everything else, but dont think there is any home-run involved here.........Bill S

TJS he didn't mention anything about SD....it may be a 421HO car which had its tri-power removed...someone should supply him engine codes for the 421HO just in case it is really an HO car

I think you will find that that e-bay intake is a later crate motor unit. Look at the location of the snow flake and the orientation of the wording beside it. Not correct for a '60s restoration.

Keith,
My intake has the firing order at an angle along #2 Runner, and the snowflake by the 3rd bolt on driver side. Is that correct for 69?
Thanks,

That would be the correct layout and there should be a casting date on the underside of the intake.
