Hooray for our troops! We can only hope this will stabilize things a bit for everyone over there.
After reading the article on CNN, I couldn't help but think...... a stray bullet into the head of that man could prevent the frenzy that will be going on for a while now with respect to putting him on trial, etc etc and create a real simple ending to the situation.
I don't necessarily agree that my thoughts are "right" or the proper way to handle it, but I sure do like a simplified approach to problems. So, the debate is here is more on opinions.......
Is it better that we got him alive, show him around, put him on trial (and hope no one tries to break him loose), and go through all those motions?
Or, would it have been better for him to catch a "stray" bullet in the head and end the discussion right there?
Just curious.
I know, I know...... too much to think about on a Sunday morning.

IMO...
A shot to the head would be letting him off easy. I say we do him "soccer stadium style" ala the Taliban gang and let the Iraqi people have their way with him. Eye for an eye.
If we let this guy sit in prison I could easily see some of his cronies trying to pull off some kind of "hostage trade" fiasco.

Can't think of the word I am looking for but it's probably more useful to see him alive and on trial and let Iraq finally find the truth about his evil ways instead of his followers worshipping him from now on because he was shot or went down fighting. He went down as A coward holding U.S. money living in holes in the ground. What is that silly word I can't remember./ubbthreads/images/graemlins/dunno.gif I am thankful the entire capture went down with out A single shot fired on our guys. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/flag.gif

Rob, the only problem is if you put him in prison some lawyer trying to make a name for himself will try to get him off and we will spend millions. Look at Mositofa or whatever the hell his name is. HE will never be convicted. LIKE I SAID LEAD POSION. Why make him a martyr. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/naughty.gif
I would like to see him put on trial by the Iraqi people to face the relatives of all the people he killed. They estimate 300,000 to a million and have found mass graves with thousands of bodies and there are mass graves all over the country.

I agree Joe....let the Iraqi people along with a International tribunal determine his fate. Bet it wouldn't be a pretty picture.
Wonder who shaved his beard....him....or the 'authorities?
I for one am darn proud of our men and women in uniform. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/flag.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/flag.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/flag.gif

Hey Allen..I agree with the thoughts that you have, others here may wish to go over the future plight he will intake; But, I am one that feels that maybe after some time and things go by, Maybe, just maybe, Saddam might just see how much he really destroyed Iraq's peoples opportunities for so many years gone by. A selfish person never considers another's plight until he bcomes that person. And, for now, Saddam is just another Iraqi citizen! Maybe there is hope for humanity yet! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/beers.gif

Yeah, He's an 8 foot tall Afghan with kidney failure; you'd think someone would notice him!? Can't be too many Afghans running around with a dialisis machine strapped to them!

Don't be suprised if he is caught right before the election next year. What do you think that will do to George W's approval rating?
