I am also curious, just like Jeff. What cars would you put up for trade on the 68?

I don't think I would do any trading unless he came up with the paperwork he claims to have. Think about it, if this were a true COPO like he says, it would be worth $75K to $100K. Sounds to my like he has a pieced together Camaro that he claimed to be a COPO and he got called out on it and is now trying to pawn it off on someone else. This is just my opinion and I could be wrong, but I doubt if I'm wrong this time.

True! I will wait patiently and see what comes up.Is it possible that he might not know what he has and who ever bought the car new took it over to dana and had the 396 traded for 427 and no documentation was recorded.

Mark, anything's possible, but it's highly unlikely. If that were the case, it would most certainly have a CE coded block, not the MO block he claims. It's possible that that motor was removed from a 69 COPO and transplanted into the 68, 20 years ago, but I doubt that gives it any more value than doing it last week. Just my opinion.

I'd run the other way if it were me.......

What Kurt, you never owned a COPO that you could ride around in comfort with the A/C on while listening to the solid lifters clatter? /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

People are idiots, I had another guy in my city call me on my 67 rs/ss and want to trade accross for a 69' rs/ss/ x code 396 with 375 hp needed paint and seats. He claims, it might be a baldwin motion because it has a wide stripe on the hood and it has 2 build sheets, one with 396 375 hp and the other after the orig. owner added stuff says High performance on the sheet for 396. It seems everyone allways has a copo, yenko,bm ect.

What condition was the SS-RS 396 in and did it still have the original drivetrain? If everything is still there, its probably worth more than your 67 SS-RS.

any chance you can make it a wee bit smaller so we can read it??

Based on the Ebay ad, it has a 69 COPO engine, transmission and rear in it. Is the protect-o-plate for a 68 or 69?

Looking at that very small picture of the POP, it appears to look TOOOOO CLEAN. Like maybe a 2003 version if you know what I mean. The real POP's that I have ever had look not so new.

To clean maybe, I have a Owners protection Plan with the POP from a 66 Impala and it looks like its brand new. As for the New POP's the stamp font size is off!!

I agree, there are exceptions. That very small picture just adds to the invalidity of the owners declarations about the car. Bunk.

If only we had the guys from CSI Las Vegas to blow that picture up real big, maybe LV Camaro can pull some strings!!!

I tried too. The original resolution isn't big enough to blow it up to make it legible. In fact I think the pic was actually pulled from another website as sample of a POP.

Just more fuel for the fire IMO.

No offense Dana Man but.....you should either prove to everyone how stupid we are by posting the doc's or move on to someplace else.If it is a real car...the money is watching you. This is entertaining but it's getting old too.
