Hello, I was wondering if anyone remembers or knows about a 69 Yenko Camaro in Fathom Green. I saw it in the mid to late 80's in the South Hills of Pittsburgh, pretty rusted with patch panels riveted on the quarters, and a couple SCCA stickers on the rear bumper. Does anyone know if this one was saved?

Brian Henderson had a Fathom Green/black stripe car years ago that was originally sold off the Canonsburg lot, but I don't know if it ever resided in the 'burgh back then. I think it spent most of it's early years near Barnsboro PA, but bkh would know the full history of it.

That is most likley the car my buddy bought from the original owner in the Burgh. It was driven daily untill it was stolen and raped of all its parts and left for dead on the street. Mark bought what was left of it and a few fellows from down south bought it. We have pictures of the car. It was a late X44 sold at Yenko. The car was as Mark described as "junk"...BKH

Brian could it be the one that was slammed in the front where the firewall was shoved back?

As a teen I lived in New Middletown Ohio from 1969-77, this was about 45 min west of Pittsburgh across the state line from Bessemer PA. I remember on a few ocassions seeing a Fathom green/blck stripe yenko Camaro cruising though our town late at night a few times, probably on the way to Youngstown in 75-76. Never knew the owner but I remember the "older guys" saying it was from out of town. Also saw a green/white? stripe 69 Yenko Nova cruising through once or twice. I had a good friend who owned a yenko Chevelle from 76-78 Lemans blue with busted 427/4 spd, dropped in a junkyard small block. I'm still looking for that one. later guys.

Bonehead,
Do you remember a Guy from West Lebanon who raced an Emerald Green '55 Chevy back in the 70's?

Do you have a name? The car doesn't ring a bell. Did he race at Quaker City Dragway in Ohio? That was the only strip I used to go to. I had a 69 ralley Green Roadrunner at the time. We used to cruise to Jerry's curb service in Bridgewater near Pittsburgh. I cruised there with my primed 57 Chevy hardtop Z/28 powered (302/m22). Did he ever hang around there? We used to go down there to pick up street races 1975-76. later, Jan

I don't remember that car but, did any of you guys cruise McKnight Rd. in the early 70's? That's where I use to hang. Did a lot of stop light racing there.

If your talking early 70's, I may not be much help. I didn't get my license until 74. We only went to Bridgewater in PA once a month. Our regular cruise/stop light racing area was downtown Youngstown on Market street.

Yep, early to mid seventies. McKnight was a lot of fun back then. It's since turned into a 3 lane heavy traffic road. I call it McKnightmare now http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/frown.gif
