1969 Camaro Z28

This is an original Z28 with one repaint. It was originally Hugger Orange with white stripes but it now all white. Incorrect engine and Muncie, correct BU 3.73 Posi. Clean body and interior. LA car, 3/8 fuel line, dual exhaust plate, power disc brakes, original D80 car, no build wheet yet but maybe tomorrow when I pull the tank. You are wasting your time pulling the tank to look for a build sticker. that only was done on Corvettes as they went down the assy line before the body was put on. That way they were sure to get the right drive train in the car before the body was dropped near the end of the line. Lots of LA built 69 Camaros have build sheets on the tank.

Van Nuys Built Camaros did usually have a build sheet placed on top of the gas tank, while Norwood built ones did not usually have one in the car.

My LA-built '69 RS/Z had a very nice and 90% legible build sheet on top of the tank on the driver's side. You could see the perforated edge of the sheet if you shined a flashlight from inside the fenderwell to the top of the tank.

I also have found most LA built cars to have a build sheet near the drivers side on the top of the fuel tank. Sometimes the edges are tattered but still have some good info. Good Luck!

The LA Z/28 I am finishing had it on the tank. Every LA Camaro I have seen had it there. On the otherhand I have NEVER pulled one from a Norwood car. I had a survivor 307 coupe from Norwood that had it, but it was in with the glovebox papers...BKH

Hummm learn something everyday on here. I find if strange that they would put it there while it goes down the ASSY line? On the Corvette it makes sense cause it is with the chassis till the body is dropped. Anybody know the reason for it to go on the tank on LA Camaro's? You know the tank has to be installed from below after the body is going down the line. Chevrolet used them to be sure that the correct options got on the correct order did they not? same holds true for the Van Nuys Chevelles. I have found MANY on the tanks of those cars.

Well, it now has a build sheet. As always not as nice as I hoped but better than most I have pulled from Camaros. Most of the Z stuff is still visible on the sheet, 15 inch tires, radiator, pulleys, etc. Price on the car is still at $13,900.

Norwood Ohio cars had the X33 and X77 designation. The P or B numbers have been debated before but their true meaning may never be known.

As Jason states below, Norwood cars had the "X" codes stamped on the Trim Tags. LOS cars did not, thus the reason it is harder to prove what the car was. A Z/28 as this one with the build sheet showing the VIN and the correct option codes for the Z/28 and the 15" wheels would show that YES its a Z. As for the odd ball codes on the tag in question, its a internal Plant tracking code yet to be determined how it breaks down.

The letter code on the lower right corner of an LA trim tag is the work Order number. The letter corresponds to a particular working day of the month, A being the first, B the second , etc. They are tied to Fisher's build week schedule for the most part. A car built during the A week, 01A, 02A etc, usually starts with A on the first day of that week, which may or may not correspond to the first calender week of the the month. The number is the order in which the body was scheduled to be built by Fisher. A001 is the first car, A002 is the second, etc.

Rember Fisher built other cars besides Camaros in the Los Angeles plant, so you do see numbers higher than the 350 Camaros made each day at LA. .
