This guy had a prior listing mentioning this car.I contacted him and was all hot to sell it to me.
then I was asking to many questions for cowl tag pics ,
numbers etc.and his phone # kept replying but still no #
s and no phone#. first it was an rs ss and then I quized
on the different tail lights. now he replied that the rs front was grill was added and its an ss. Now he quit
responding and listed it on the bay. I also asked his address so a friend that lives in the area I know to see it.
Won't respond!! I see he put the cowl tag info in the add
which I dont think matches the vin he is showing at the top of listing and on engine photo.
tag info,

ST 69 12437 NOR 105056 tr 711 76 B 09B
vin 124379N506517
Do I have this right ??? I am new at chev numbers and tags
can someone decode the cowl tag info please

Please help me out ?

9 = 1969 model year
N = Norwood, OH assembly plant
506517 = vehicle serial number sequence

Decode for body number: 105056

Sep 68 build date looks good to me early car. Engine codes T0904JF Sept 4th JF shows it as a 396/350 HP with either a 3 or 4 speed (High Perf) The stampings look pretty clear and since I dont have many to compare them to, maybe LV/Charley/DjD or one of the others here can help out there

Correct the body number on the trim tag IS NOT part of the VIN. GM assigns the VIN and Fisher Body assigns the body number on the trim tag. The partial VINs on the engine/tranny and the 2 on the firewall and under the cowl vent panel should be 19N506517 which should match the last half of the VIN plate that is on the dash

The front RS package was added during the resto.

NOT i repeat NOT a RS. as he states it was added. At least he could have done was add the RS back up lights also below the rear bumper and change over the tail light lens to make it a better RS CLONE. Hey thats a new one here someone trying to pass off a car as a RS and its a bad clone at that http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbsdown.gif http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbsdown.gif http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbsdown.gif

If the vin# on the engine stamp pad, or in some cases down by the oil filter (rough casting) matches the car vin# located under the windshield, it "could" be an SS 396 (L34).
Other areas would have to be considered like rear multileafs, correct engine mounts (taller one on driver's side), big-block transmission crossmember, 3/8" fuel line, matching vin# on tranny, etc, in order for it to have a chance of being an SS.
An RS it is not. There are no back-up lights and the car has the standard tailights. The car does have the correct grill, but the areas around the hide-a-way headlights are not painted to match the color of the car, in this case Daytona Yellow - 76.
Looks like an aftermarket hide-a-way headlight/grill combination. Seems funny to paint an entire car, without painting around the grill and headlight doors.

Not sure how internet law works and im not a lawyer but im pretty sure that if you knowingly advertise a car as something it is not then you have committed fraud. That would constitute a felony of consumer fraud along with at least triple damages and new Girlfriend named Bubba..As most of this is done on the internet it may be considered a Federal offense. Dana-Man committed fraud when he stole a photo of a POP from another car and tried to pass it on as his own. If I had bought that car because of the POP I would have had this Jerk locked up..Anyone know the law for this? Always save your E-Mails during corrispondance

I like the engine stamping, just not the rest of the car. right 1/4 panel pic looks like there are problems in the paint, side mouldings are missing,Emblems on drivers fender are horrible, wrong material for vinyl top, wrong shifter, no disc brake pad on brake pedal, no drip rail mouldings ?,no radio antenna, Cheapo repo air cleaner etc, no cowl rubber seal or hood side rubber bumpers, under the hood was painted with a black spray bomb, parts of the fenders that show under the hood should be Yellow but he took the lazy route and painted them black, wrong shift knob, repo door panels missing the Camaro emblems, didn't bother to line up the drivers fender with the door before he painted it. If he cut that many corners that we can see how much time do you think he spent doing the floors and 1/4's correctly ? I suspect I have just scratched the surface. Looks like a car built to sell on Ebay, but I do like the engine stamping.

Its like you read my mind Charley. I was even going to say something about the quarter but I didn't want to tear the car apart. Stamping looks Kosher to me.

Joe, you of all people should recognise the COPO 45^ Elbow when you see one http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/scholar.gif.. Probably because the Yenko crest is on the bottom side out of visual on the pic that threw you off.. I wonder if he's got the documentation for that.

Did everybody see this part on the L-34's Ebay page? According to the Seller and NADA, the car is worth (Retail Value $46,170.00), but has the reserve price set at a lower amount.

I have looked at this car...Asking price was $37,000 Cdn.
I found it to be a very poor representation of what this guy is attempting to sell. Only advice to any of you guy's is that if you are interested in this car have a hard look at it first...don't go by what you see in the photo's
