-----If it did happen to be one of the extremely rare ZR2s it would have had an M22. If just an LS6 (rare enough by itself) it could have had either M22 or M21. It also could have had a T400 if we are talking about all possible combinations............Bill S

To my knowledge Chev never put the Super T-10 in a vette. They made their own transmissions (M-20 -->M-22). So I doubt the owner knows just what it has. If it should have a Borg-Warner in it then it is either a very old non super, trany or a transplanted aftermarket Super T-10. but it didnot come from the corvette factory with it. sounds like a car that you should have a very experienced vette person give the car a good going over before you buy it. Mind you most of these guys selling something out there don't have a clue what it really is. I am sure that someone on this forum must live near there and you might get them to go look at it with you. Most of us on here do like to go look at strange cars just to see what is out there. You just never know when you will find a diamond in the rough or a Yenko in a barn. http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/naughty.gif http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/dunno.gif

Either way good luck and be sure what it is before you plunk down your hard earned money.

-----It could have a super T10 because someone put it in after the fact. For one thing, the 1st gear in a super T10 is real steep. It would go along with the performance nature of an LS6. The car would have a 4:11 or so first gear with a 355 pumpkin. Have your cake and eat it too!!!!........Bill S

Sam,

------Not everyone is a straight shooter, are they? The one thing I can tell you without doubt is that a 71 Corvette did not come from the factory with a super T10. From the lowliest base 350 to the vaunted LS6 all 71 Vettes that had manual transmissions had Muncies! Positively........Bill S

You are correct, no T-10. It's worth a look if priced right, should be a 365 horse motor with lots of torque if it's not an LS6.

I remember at a Australian Corvette nationals one guy had a very hot 63 Rdster. Did huge burnouts on the Go To Whoa. When talking to him later he proudly told me he had a Muncie Super T-10. When I corrected him and told him it was probably a Borg Warner Super T-10 he became abusive, as if I had seriously denigrated his car. He did not have a clue, shame about all the people standing around, who were absorbing his enlightened information.

There is a Corvette God however, and he was pissed. Next time Jr picked up his $75,000 (what the car and all its mods had cost him back in 1988.) Vette from the mechanics he tested out the clutch with a mighty burnout. Car mounted the curb, lept a guard rail, and dropped into a storm water drain. He survived, and quietly parted out his car, never to spoil the Corvette scene again.
If only all life was that fair.
