I would first like to thank Earl Haubrich for telling me about this car. 1970 yenko deuce, 34000 original miles, the guy owned this car since 1973 and has been in storage since 1976.car was sold new at dale chev.Fathom blue, mosly original paint, but is not nice enough to leave alone, original engine, original rear, not the original trans, original interior that is in mint condition, even the rubber mat is in great shape, original qtr. panels. No rust on this car anywhere! beside a big dent in the drivers door, and a few other minor dents, the body is in excellent condition. all glass and chrome are in excellent shape. I will post some pics,Thanks again Earl!

The way you see it,other than the drivers fender,is the way i got it,he had banged around the pass fender, and when he replaced that he replaced the drivers side as well but had a perfectly good, original paint drivers fender so i put that back on the car for the picture, and then i washed it a little, otherwise it is the way i got the car. The guy i bought it from was pulled over in 1976 and was told if he did not put this car away, because of open headers,he would be arrested,he put the car away and started to take it apart,i was never really clear why but i did not want to argue with him,he wanted some emblems for the car and that is how he ended up talking with earl, and then earl let me know,He let me come down to wisconsin,he lives close to the brewers stadium and take a look at the car. He told me it had no rust and the interior was in very nice condition, all of us being on wild goose chases before,i was unsure of what to think but the car sounded good,i got to his house and we went to his moms where he had it parked, when he removed the covers i was amazed! no rust original qtrs,#s matching, what more could i say then i will take it!There was no paperwork and he is not sure if he has any pics but will keep looking,it has been in storage for so long he is unsure about anything he might still have. Chad,
How did you dig that one up before Dave Belk "THE DEUCE KING" did? I've never known anyone to beat Dave to the punch , he just had one similar to it. I want to see it done, the thrill of the hunt always makes it more exciting! Congratulations Chad,
The owner of this Deuce called me a few weeks ago looking for information about Yenkos. He said he got in trouble with it for street racing then parked it. He said while it was apart someone popped the trunk and stole the carb and intake but the rest was original. I got an email from another guy with a picture of a Deuce he had with a 2x4 tunnel ram. The car looks yellow in the picture and was raced in the mid 70's. Anyone know anything about it?

YENKO DEUCE REGISTRY
01-21-2004, 03:32 PM
The bottom line on this deuce is that MikeA 'found' it, and passed the word along to me. JoeC 'found' it about the same time, and also passed the word along to me. We all talked with the owner, and confirmed that it was the real deal. We just weren't sure how the body looked, several guys passed on it, a few others were contemplating it. The owner was told to see Earl about getting some chrome Yenko crests for the car, and the rest is history - Chad got himself a nice project. Good to see it found, and brought back to life!

SS427
01-21-2004, 04:30 PM
I don't think it matters who "found" it in as much as yet another Supercar will be on the streets and displayed for people to enjoy. I seem to remember another Supercar whose discussion was more about who "found" it and less about the car. That after the "finder" was paid most handsomely for his efforts for which he was employed. Glad to see you add yet another one to your stable Chad.

YENKO DEUCE REGISTRY

chads454Ls6
01-21-2004, 07:49 PM
Kevin, i plan to keep the car and do a resto on it,cars in this condition just rarely come along and i have been fortunate to get this car along with my chevelle, which is primarily the car i am working on right now.

chads454Ls6
01-21-2004, 07:56 PM
He also gave me a set of torque thrust rims that are 14/6,and my question is what size were the torque thrusts that came on the nova,i know chevelle and camaro were 15s but not sure of nova.

YENKO DEUCE REGISTRY
01-21-2004, 08:09 PM
Chad, the steel wheels on the deuce are 14x7, as are the Magnum 500 wheels that are coded AO. The optional wheels that Yenko offered in the catalog were Atlas wheels and were 14x6. If you have a set of 'torq thrust' style wheels, look on the backside to see if there is a mfg name. From what we have seen, the Atlas wheels don't say anything on the back.

Great find! If you want to post the pictures of your car as you restore it at chevynova.org (http://www.chevynova.org) let me know. There are pictures of the Blue Peck deuce there.

I like to feature original condition restorations. Send me the high-resolution pictures and I'll do all the work.

Check out Ron Bentz's L34 restoration while you are there.
