128 miles since restoration. Very nice car. Need to remove my favorite sticker from it though.

Thanks Charley, as the ad is a little mis-leading, as it indicates the mileage to be 134.

Those "Caution Fan" stickers are really starting to p!ss me off! http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif But seriously, why do so many of these high dollar restorations have those stickers? Do the guys at Jiffy Lube put them on when the car comes in for an oil change? http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/dunno.gif Oh yeah, love that color.

Yes Charley, I agree...lose the sticker! Sometimes I wish the guys who are sticking these on their cars would fire that puppy up and hang a few digits over the edge of that shroud while affixing their sticker. http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/crazy.gif One less "nimrod" putting these on very nice cars. http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/eek.gif

The Ford "Caution" sticker on the fan shroud...
Charlie I agree it looks like a very nice car. At what point does better than new detract from the car on a properly restored car? I mean it's got the details like body color over spray on the undercarage but crisp lines between the firewall and cowl. Don't take this wrong, I'm not bashing the car I just find it interesting because so many cars have so much time and money put into them to insure they are correct in every detail except then more time and money goes into them and they are given that show car finish, I guess you could say over restored.

I think thats the car that was sold at the Russo Steele auction. That was definetly a first class resto. The paint was incredible.

It was at Russo and Steele but did not sell. I just ribbed Mike about the "Caution Fan" Sticker. He is at the Kruse Auction in Az and says it looks pretty desolate.

I am with you guys on the over-restored cars...If you could take a car that just came off of the Norwood Line in '69 and put it in a car show the judges probably would not even place it in the top 3 in show. Now how screwed up is that?

I've read that NCRS judges will deduct points if your Corvette's paint doesn't have the factory orange-peel.

I thought that car sold, I heard them say the reserve was off the car was for sale. The person I talked to who said he owned the car was not a dealer and now I see a dealer owns it.

so really the car has 100134 miles on it? they state in ad 134, it doesn't say anything about after restoration. http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/dunno.gif
Charley Lillard

I guess it would have 100134 miles on it if they restored at at exactly 100000 miles but what do you think the odds of that are ? http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/dunno.gif

Did BKH and Company restore this car? Looks like his attention to detail kind of work! http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/biggthumpup.gif
Hey fellas,
I am in no way trying to discredit this car, but I have a 69 Z I am trying to restore and look over restored cars as closely as I can to help me to restore my own car. I am just trying to learn and want to ask some questions about it's correctness. Is the left front engine lift hook correct? This looks like the one that is now for sale through the vendors, not the one bolt style I have seen before. Is the alternator bracket correct? I didn't think it was supposed to have the adjustment hole in it. Are the valve covers not too shiny indicative of the newer ones rather than the dull ones? The springs appear to be 5 leaf, is this correct? I suppose that from the comments already made the sticker is wrong? Is it the wrong one or not supposed to be there at all? Thanks for whatever answers you can give me. I just want to try and do it right the first time. http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/confused.gif

I understand that this car is over-restored. If you want to make it correct you have to spray the bottom of the of car black. According to Jerry's book, all were painted black. Sweet car! ... but like any classic some items need attention.

Not all of the Camaros I have done have had a black underside, they go from gray to black. I think it depends on what ecoat had mixed with it that day.

I believe 5 leafs were an option. These were probably replaced because of sagging. The valve covers are to bright. This is what you get unless you buy used. The alternator bracket looks correct and the engine hoist bracket, I think?? is a later issued one. Remember NOT everything is written in stone, and NO one on this website is God! Do your own hands on research. http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/biggthumpup.gif Sam

Some of us just like to restore these old cars the way the GENERAL wished they could have be done, if it weren't for mass production and assembly lines, etc. making guys rush to get things done....I don't know many guys that don't want their car to look the BEST it can, not the way some 60's line worker did it...but better! http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/worship.gif http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smirk.gif

I'll be the first to say that a true correct restoration is one that is done just like the GM did - mistakes, errors, ommissions, oversprays, wrong gaps, etc included. Correctness means 'no better, no worse' than the day it rolled off the dealer's lot. There are many who actually like them that way, not the prettiest, but that's the way they came. I usually don't understand how someone will put some crayon markings on a car - even though they too look ugly - but won't leave some orange peel in the paint, or put overspray onto the firewall http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/dunno.gif
But, that's what makes the world go 'round!

It's just hard to spend 50 bucks an hour for a restoration and tell them to please make the same mistakes as the factory and also, please give me a mediocre paint job too....I can see both sides but if it's sitting in my garage...I want the most bang out of my buck...not something that 3 people will look at and admire the mistakes and orange peel.I'm sure it's harder to actually GET the correct paint finish on a car though.

It really comes down to your individual purpose of the car. Do you plan on entering high level judged shows and want to compete in "original restored" class, or do you want the best looking car you can get for the money. It's nice to have choices.

Yea Mystery Chevelle, It was a line deal. So that makes it NOT BETTER! I agree, you are not going to ding your doors or not line up the seams, but like Marlin said, overspray, different color bolts, maybe a different number coil or horn relay is what makes a true resto Correct. Anybody can build a kit car. Why does my car have this, and your car doesn't? Thats what makes this hobby unique. We are not cloning cars here! http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smirk.gif JMO Sam

This is my Z. I apologize if the ad on my website gives the meaning that the miles were original. That is not the intention. The car is a very nice car. My web guy made a mistake on the color, should be Burgandy. You know, it's a funny thing about that "CAUTION FAN" sticker. Alot of Mustangs end up with that sticker and it is incorrect as well. If you show your car at an MCA event without it, they will deduct points for NOT having it. This car also was the class winner at the 2001 Topeka,KS Super Chevy show. Maybe they overlooked it, too. The car was at Russo and Steele and I owned it before and after the auction. The guy who said in an earlier post that he talked to the owner at the sale and now it was at a dealer, if you talked to the owner at the auction then you talked to me. I always tell people I'm a dealer, when asked. They said at the block when the car came up it was 'NO RESERVE', which was a mistake on their part. It didn't bring what I wanted so I didn't sell it. If anyone has any question feel free to contact me.
