Guys I want to CLEAR UP the whole ZEDDER Situation and the deletion of his Post: As most of you know by now we recently traded our '67 Corvette to Kevin Hand when we did the deal on his YENKO CHEVELLE. Kevin saw a post by ZEDDER stating that he was looking for a '67 Corvette and contacted him to see if he was interested. He was so Kevin forwarded the documentation to ZEDDER by e-mail. Zedder determined that the build sheet that we were given with the car when we bought it in 1980 was Incorrect. We were absolutely floored by this and DIDN'T and COULDN'T Believe it at first!! Zedder contacted some top NCRS people and they confirmed what he suspected that the build sheet was Incorrect--BUT-- the car was Likely LEGIT!!! Extremely shocked and in Disbelief we took the car back as it was the Right Thing to do and then we had to pay Kevin the Diferrence. Kevin NEVER once Doubted us on the Build Sheet.. Zedder then suggested that we have the car inspected by an NCRS master judge and offered to split the cost with us. He said he was still interested in the car if it could be determined that it was real. Sickened by the whole mess, we deceided to contact a NCRS judge to look at the car. He did and determined that the car was the REAL DEAL, he put oil on the engine pad which CLEARLY showed the Broach Marks, ALL the DRIVETRAIN was ORIGINAL, NEVER hit body, original seats, door panels, etc. He liked the car so much that he contacted someone he knew and they bought it the next day for what he appraised it at. I honestly didn't think that ZEDDER would be interested in paying more for the car than what he had been quoted by Kevin, so I Didn't contact him. I sent Zedder an e-mail after I Sold the car and Thanked him for his time and help with the car. In hindsight I see that I should have given him the right of first refusal. ZEDDER was EXTREMELY UPSET when he got the e-mail that said I Sold the car!! He was Very Tough on us in an e-mail he sent. In his defence he said he had spent 24 hours investigating the car and talking to experts, he did share the information with us. He told me several times that he would pay a fair price for the car. I just didn't think he would pay more than he originally thought the car was worth.
Then a few days later a discussion started about cars and documentation. ZEDDER then posted a comment about nearly buying a '67 Corvette from the site that had a Fake Build Sheet!! He didn't mention my name or any specifics of the car. I felt that knowing how Upset he was about not being offered a chance to buy the car I thought he was going to start Slinging Mud.I am the one that asked the Clary's to Delete the post, I never thought he would get so upset about it.
Then the battle began with the heated PM's and e-mails and in alittle time this thing was a COMPLETE MESS!! We spoke to ZEDDER on Tuesday the 3rd and we have PUT this thing to REST BETWEEN US!! I have been working on what to say since yesterday.
I will NOT have my Good Name TARNISHED!! As I did Nothing Wrong and have NOTHING to HIDE!!
I do NOT want ZEDDER's name & reputation DAMAGED EITHER!!
I would like to apologize to the Clary's who were just doing what I asked them to do. Seems like they try to help people on the board and they always get put in the middle.
I am Sorry for any problems caused between any board members that got dragged into this mess!
I would like to put all this behind us and get on with enjoying the hobby and this great web-site!!
Sincerely, Mark Hassett

Mark: Thanks for posting the story for all to see. Although the buildsheet problem was unfortunate, you had nothing to hide with the car as it was the real deal and that's the only reason I vaguely mentioned it in my post. There was no malice ever intended.

For the record, I was banned from the site for blasting rob in a PM for deleting my post, not for making the post. As I have said to anyone who has asked, I didn't blame him for banning me. I called a spade a spade based on my interpretation of the event and was prepared to accept responsibility for it. Being a life long martial artist, I tend to go for the kill when challenged - guess I need to take some anger management lessons from Motown http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/biggthumpup.gif

Tom Clary just emailed me and offered his appologies for the confusion and reinstated my account. That was a very big gesture on his part and I am grateful. I too am sorry for my involvement in this mess and hope to put it all behind us.

Thanks also to Belair and others that offered support. I don't know any of you personally, but appreciate your friendship http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/beers.gif

Good resolution. Thanks for the update, as a lot of us were confused about what actually happened. Looks like it all worked out ok in the end.

And I think proves that there is a "method to our madness", and does work on occasion. http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/biggthumpup.gif

Ok guys, this is what happens when good honest car folks have a disagreement. You step back and HONESTLY look at how the events unfolded and EVERYONE takes responsibility for their own actions and you hash it out and learn a little something about other people and yourself. If you go into a dispute with blinders on it can quickly degrade into a three stooges skit. We've all seen it happen it's ugly and no one wins. Two thumbs up to everyone involved. http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/biggthumpup.gif http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/biggthumpup.gif (One more Mark involved in this discussion) Mark http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Mark,

Glad to see you're back. I too know how a "bad situation" can do lot of damage. It's too bad the people that "my guy" has contacted won't look at my past actions and base their opinion of me solely on that and not his "words"...that's all they are words!

Tex...Yeah, these types of situations really can get out of hand. I learned a huge lesson from this one and I am keeping a lower profile from this point on. Maybe your situation will get better over time...

Thanks for the welcome Phil and Mark! Yep, Tom and I are both hunting the same tires for our 1967s. Well, I don't know about the low profile...I did nothing wrong. I'll keep my words nice. After all, if you throw it you'd better be able to catch some back...right SS. Be looking for me at Carlisle...better wear a chin strap! http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/blush.gif http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/eek.gif http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif
