View Full Version : BUMMER...GOT A SPEEDING TICKET
You know, cops are always sitting in the most unlikely places with radar. I just got my 69 Nova running this week, spent all day Friday the 13th getting last minute items completed, exhaust, front-end alignment, tags and registration. I brought the car home on my trailer, installed the license plate, unloaded the car and feeling real good about my day, decided to go around the block, just to feel it out. Well, all the good luck I had ran out, and of course, being the 13th and a Friday and all, I guess I shouldn't have pressed my luck. So anyway, I am on a two-lane road near home and my newly built big block is really sounding good, so I let her breathe a little, not to much though, just a light hammering. Well, there he sits and in no time at all, I have proof in hand of what speeding can do for you. So, when you have had about all the luck and good fortunes you can stand, in your quest for speed, keep your eyes open for the man in blue and his trusty ticket book. http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/3gears.gif

I've done worse. . .
One time after school, I was pulling out of the parking lot, and owning the 1976 Camaro I did, I proceeded to squeal the tires all the way out of the lot. Just my luck, I didn't see the police officer across the street. He didn't even bother chasing me, but he yelled, "HEY YOU! GET OVER HERE!" Well, I'm no dummy, and I knew if he caught me I was getting a ticket, so I just ditched him and fled out of there! It probably wasn't the smartest thing to do, but I did it anyway. Needless to say I didn't take the Camaro to school for a few days. Even by being a year or two older really puts perspective on things.
Oh, and I've almost gotten a ticket just for having the Motion paint scheme on that Camaro too! I was coming into town on this two lane county highway that then splits into a 4 lane, and I see a cop coming from the other direction. I wasn't speeding, so I didn't have a care in the world. Well, even without speeding, I got a little nervous when he pulled a U-turn and proceeded to follow me into town, and then all the way through town, where he then gave up and turned around again. The bastard was just waiting for me to screw up, then he figured he'd nail me for anything he could. Really makes you think that our tax dollars should go to actually catching people that are doing something wrong, and not trying to pinch someone when they're perfectly fine. Damn cops.

I feel for ya. I got a speeder this past September in my Chevelle. That was the first time that I had gotten a ticket in any collector car that I have had and I drive em fast and often! Now I am on supervision untill Sept 2004! http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/frown.gif

Here's agood one...got a 66 Hemi Charger automatic, got home with it and a buddy came over...never had a Hemi so we went around my block to a main intersection..made a right turn on red, stopped, brake torqued it and went thru second and into 3rd until I had to slow down to turn on my block. No sooner did I turn and a local PD was behind me,jumps out kind of pissed and asked me for my license which of course I left in the kitchen...he asked me" what the hell were you thinking? Didn't you see me right behind you at the light ?" well I apologized and said NO and started blabbering about the car being a Hemi, which he knew nothing about! Since I was practically in my driveway he let me go,shaking his head all the way to his car.
It's a rare occasion to be let go these days. I tried to talk my way out of the ticket, but is was no use. I don't think the officers are able to let many (if any) go these days, because these particular citations are an excellant source of revenue for our towns. Even if you go before the judge and get assigned traffic school, the fine plus school cost are still high. The only positive aspect is the ticket doesn't end up on your state record.
