Tony, you can go to Wayne's web site Camaro - Untold Secrets (http://www.camaro-untoldsecrets.com) and send him an email. I have his phone # at home but I would still have to check with him about giving it out first. Most of the JL8 cars seem to be in the Feb-June range. My car is 04A with a Feb dated rear. I think Jim at Heartbeat City has a LOS built JL8 that is an 11A car that supposedly has documentation but I've never seen another JL8 even close to that early so I'm hesitant on that one.

A friend of mine, who lived in Wisconsin and worked at a Chevrolet dealer, ordered a hugger orange JL-8 Z/28 in October, 1968. He was informed, at least twice between October and January, that the car build was being delayed due to the JL-8 option, and he was given the opportunity to delete it from the order. He opted to continue to wait instead, and finally got the car in early March. While I'm reasonably sure his working for Chevrolet didn't have any influence at the factory, I think his situation indicates there were parts availability problems at least until January. I would be leary with any car that had a JL-8 rear before then, but that is just me, you never know for sure what slipped through.

Tony,
I sold one that had a Nov 68 cast date, but the carrier and R&P set were dated Jan 69.
I think it had a Jan. assembly date on it. I will check my files and see if I can get the exact dates or the buyer's info.
I'll let you know what I turn up.http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/beers.gif
Does anyone know the date range for service rears? How late were they made?

Mike Ryan(and family) have several JL8 cars and the one from FL has a bunch of paperwork with it. Ryan JL8 (http://www.icehouse.net/camaros/rsjl8.htm) The car was originally ordered in Jan and I don't think it was delivered until May. The price sheet didn't even have the cost of the JL8 option yet. I think this was a car Charley had at one time. I've seen Jan dated JL8 rears, but I've never seen a documented car(other than the Heartbeat City ar) built prior to Feb or Mar.

While not particularly early, my 04C Van Nuys built JL8 rear was cast on 3/31 and assembled on 4/3. There was also a Van Nuys JL8 that sold at Worldwide Muscle Cars a while back that was built five cars after mine. It seems that there are alot of JL8's from LA compared to the total # of Camaros built there? Could be a parts availability issue?

My JL8 is an 04A Van Nuys car with a Feb QX rear. It is surprising to see this many LOS built JL8 cars considering the total number of Camaros built at LOS.

Doubt any JL8's were built in 68. They hadn't changed the wheels yet for more clearance.
They were only available for about 4 months....

I READ THAT TOO, BUT THE AD WHEELS BOLT ON WITH NO CLEARENCE PROBLEMS AND ARE DATED CORRECTLY FOR THE CAR, THE SLOTS ARE BIGGER ON THE YH WHEELS IS THAT THE ONLY DIFFERENC http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/flag.gif?

HI KURT
I HAVE SEE THE DEALER ORDER FORMS WITH A 06/68 REVISION THAT LISTED THE JL-8 OPTION. DO YOU KNOW OF ANY REASON THE JL-8 WAS NOT AVAILABLE AT THE START OF THE 69 PRODUCTION YEAR. IN HOOPERS BOOK ON PAGE 155 BOTTOM LEFT WINDOW STICKER THERE IS A LA CAR WITH A LOW PRODUCTION NUMBER THAT WOULD INDICATE A EARLY CAR?

I think Mike Ryan's email is listed on their website. I don't have a phone # for him, but I've emailed back and forth with him.

The build sheet for that car is shown on page 76. April 7th appears to be the production date. Yet another Van Nuys built JL8! http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/dunno.gif

The AD wheels fit. But there wasn't sufficient clearance for Chevy, hence the YH's.
All data says: no JL8's in 68.

Kurt,
There is a special-order-paint 12B LOS JL8 car with 4-wheel discs and window sticker in my area. I think it's in the CRG database. I think I might have also sent you a copy of the window sticker, no?

Jon,
It's an 02C car.
The window sticker is a fake / repro, so I don't trust that datapoint much. http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif
