My brother was just scammed by this guy (like i was)! http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/mad.gif Another person scammed by readytofix.com re: that 1969 Z-28 that they are STILL advertising! How many of you have been to www.readytofix.com (http://www.readytofix.com) and been redirected to autosource-online.com? Man, I am sick of this crap. I just went to scamchecker.com and listed them. If you have been taken in, please go there and list. I also did an ns lookup on the domain and the registrant's contact info is:

Scammer advertises cars for sale that are high dollar collectables. Once you go to www.readytofix.com (http://www.readytofix.com) you are redirected to www.autosource-online.com. (http://www.autosource-online.com.) Once there, you need to put in a credit card and they charge you 15$. Once you register you find out that they give you access to a list of sites that advertise wrecked cars for sale. There is a disclaimer that says the car you are looking for may "just" have sold. One car, a 1969 Camaro z-28, is STILL being advertised and has been "sold" for me two years ago!

from their site::
C O N T A C T U S
[email protected]
E M A I L: Due to desirability and pricing of the vehicles we list, we receive several hundred emails each day. Some inquiries may go unanswered as time simply doesn't allow us to read and respond to all inquiries. Refer to our suggestion at the bottom of this page for more immediate access to nationwide inventories of deeply discounted insurance claim settlement vehicles.
P H O N E: The vehicles we list generate enormous interest. We were getting more than 600 calls a day. We spent ALL day on the phones. Which isn't a bad thing if your talking to people ready to buy a vehicle, but too much of our time was spent with people just wanting to talk.
We employed "phone idiots" to handle the calls. A "phone idiot" is a person given the vital task of answering a company's phones, but they know virtually nothing about the business and typically do more harm than good. However they work cheap and they free up the valuable people within the company so that they can run the business.
Our valuable people are busy in areas requiring their particular expertise and thus are unavailable to answer phones. Or simply put, their time is more valuably served with other tasks. Therefore we were forced to employ a legion of "phone idiots". We soon found this to be a poor remedy. Regrettably we were left with no other practical solution than to require everyone to contact us exclusively by email.
H E R E ' S A S U G G E S T I O N : We're an affiliate of AutoSource, a network of more than 60 nationwide auto brokers specializing exclusively in the resell of insurance claim settlement vehicles. We would recommend all serious bargain hunters to register as an AutoSource member. Upon doing so they will receive instant access to the inventories of all the nationwide brokers.

No. It's just that it has been a year or so since I was scammed. He forgot all about it until he paid and was redirected to the "the car you are looking for....." page. Actually, he felt kind of sheepish to be taken in after I was.....

Yep, and thats why I avoid any internet sales. Too many scams, misrepresented parts and down right fraud! Ebay is nothing but a bad joke!
Make the time to attend swap meets/car corrals whenever possible. Doing so allows you to touch, feel and smell the stuff your looking for. There is no substitute!

Al,
I understand your thoughts completely and I agree that you may find a good deal on small, obscure items. As you said, do your homework.
On the other hand, I've seen so called NOS small parts that were obviously bogus displayed inside original GM packaging, which had the correct part number on it. The seller did a clean repackaging job and the untrained eye would never know the differance. Clearly fraud in my opinion!
As always, use extreme caution with any internet sales and attend swap meets whenever possible.

I think KLONECO is right in his response. There are some good deals out there on the NET,rather it be EBAY or other WEB SITES!You do have to be very careful with who you do business with though.I have made according to my Wife too many purchases off of e bay and knock on wood I have not been ripped off or scammed yet. When I see an item I am interested in I look at there feedback and if it is questionable I will not deal with that seller.I guess so far I have been LUCKY.Most of the items I buy are small and not that nuch money involved but I have purchased 2 vehicles off Ebay. Both were local to me and I inspected both before I ever bid, but both were excellent deals.I would not ever buy a vehicle without either inspecting it first by myself or have someone else inspect it for me if I was unable to do so myself. That just goes against my JUDGEMENT to do something like that ,unless it was someone that came HIGHLY recommended by someone that I trusted. The most we can hope for is that the CROOKS that prey on the Net get caught before to long. The Crooks are out there and were before the Net ever became availiable. The Net just gave them another place to do business. We will never get rid of all the Crooks they will always be there lurking for someone to make a mistake, rather it be the Net,or wherever. But we can help each other by making the Crooks be known whenever possible.I think Ebay could do a better job in policing and hopefully they will do so in the near future,in the meantime it is buyer beware! buyer be very careful!

Well, I cannot complain to much. I got my 69 LM1 (before I or the seller knew what that was) off ebay. All I knew is that is had a # match 350/4speed/12bolt multi car w gauges. It was "customized" on the gauges (to all 70's era digital speedo and tach) and "electric" doors. She is also now her original hugger orange and all of the components are back to original. I was amazed that the reverse safety switch still worked as well as all of the smog equipment is still intact. This is the most original camaro that I have ever owned.
Conversely, a short while after I bought a 69 roller that was supposed to be a SS. Well long story short, it was not. It was cloned. So, I guess the point I am trying to make is there are still some good deals out there, but you have to be very careful!! It's like a trip to the casino, never go into it with more than you can afford to lose, and if you happen to win great!

I might be a good idea to confirm the part is not just a re-pop by asking if it is a OEM and a NOS from the XXXX that manfactured the part originally. That way you would have some legal recorse against them or at least you could throw a reallistic sounding scare into them till they give your money back. http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/biggthumpup.gif
