I'm sure by now y'all have seen the reproduction Motion Performance license plate frames being sold on EBay. I have three questions on these.
1) Does anyone know for sure if that's the proper appearance for those frames (i.e. is that what they really looked like)?
2) Were all the cars coming from Motion Performance given those frames (even if they were subsequently removed by the owners)?
3) Are these generally available to the public elsewhere?
It just seems like you'd be asking for trouble to spend $80-100 for a repro license plate frame that's only available via EBay.

I can't honestly say i've ever seen an original plate frame like the one you are referring to. Mark Hassett has an original Motion plate frame on his 68, and thats the only original version I have seen. Its chrome plated, and is nothing like the ebay ones. This seller also sells Yenko, Nickey, etc. plate frames, and I believe all are basically his own design. The Motion one is the best looking one he offers IMO, although I don't think they are modeled after anything that was actually produced my Motion...but quite honestly I cant verify that.... they may have made something similar, and are just not seen much today. I have not seen other Berger frame like the one I (and Charley) have, but i know they are originals, and lots were made originally... These are custom made by one individual,so I would have to say they are probably not available elsewhere.

I'd like to see a picture of the repo license plate frame. I will try to get my son to take a picture of my MOTION frame and post it. What year Baldwin Motion do you have??

Thanks Mark! Here is a link to one of the repros you asked about. Repro Motion Frame (http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=42606&item=2468385 964) If you look at his other auctions, he also has similar Berger and Yenko repro plate frames too.

the e-bay frame is the same one I sell, in a nut shell it is probably 1/32 or 1/16 peice of Microsurfaced ABS, which in english is a piece of plastic that is yellow with a thin layer of Blue color ontop, when you engrave the top color off ta-da yellow righting, It then is glued on the frame,
I would like to see what Mark's frame looks like,
this guys text looks similiar to some of the other 60's frames I have seen, nice touch. Not sure of the quality of his frames but if he is buying the good chrome frames that is really fair for a frame, bet he is hopeing it will run up a ways or he is doing the work for nothing.

Thank you to everyone who responded. You folks confirmed what I suspected. I would however be interested in seeing what an original frame does look like.
