You will be lucky to find the VW bus with the surf boards for that price. Less than 50 made i think and the production was stopped due to it kept flipping off the tracks when then ran it down it.

Did you check some of the other auctions he has won. He's been buying up Hot Wheels and most of them are not cheap. That's incredible, it must be some limited edition. Man, I'm so stupid for playing with my toys when I was a kid!

Anybody here have the Hot Wheels "Sizzler" cars when they were young? I had a early set. Came with two Boss Mustangs, one Candy Apple red and one green. They came with a charger that looked like a gas pump. They were pretty cool! I wonder what they would be worth today? Wish I still had them! http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/frown.gif

You realize by taking that watch out of its original box,it has depreciated in Value 70%...VERY http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/cool.gif!

This guy likes his cars to. I have found that the new Hot Wheels sets are so boring I have been buying older sets for us to play with. Nothing like a good old fashioned drag race or some super charger oval action. We call it "Track Time". http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/burnout.gif

I really do not recall too much about the watch over the years. I do know it was sold new at JC Penney's. I was 6, and the sales lady told me it was the only one they had.
It was in the showcase at eye level. (I was 6)
The gotcha was the cars on the second hand as they went round and round the dial, and the checkerboard minutehands.
This is what I recall - I wanted the watch, My mom got it for me for my birthday in 1970. At that time I had a ton of redline Hot Wheels, and Sizzlers, My favorite being the 1970 T/A Camaro, with white stripe (Green #6). I also had the vinal sizzlers case. I recall taking the juce machine out and using it as a lunch box http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif
I guess the watch survived because I kept misplacing it. I found it again when I moved out of the house when I was 21, almost tossed it, Set it aside, and it got packed up and went with me. I left it packed up again and had forgotten all about it until last year when I found it again. Will power? More like dumb luck!! Fate?? 1970 was a good year!
You are bringing him up right!! Cute Kid!

After seeing this thread I went and dug out my Hotwheels. I found these in my grandmothers pantry closet when I was a kid. They used to belong to my cousin who is 40 now. All the pictured cars have redline tires and are dated from 1969 to 1976. I even have a First gen Camaro from 1968 but it does not have redlines. The coolest thing IMO is the Super Ralley Case with a redline tire!

The Super Ralley Case is dated 1968. Still has a ton of dust on the top of it! http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Wish I still had my Johnny Lightning case. It was a huge Johnny Lightning Indy car that opened and had compartments for the small cars.

We had the Hot Wheels Sizzler cars. I also remember the magnacharger(?) where you had to turn the handle and it would grab the cars and shoot them out and through the loops. We also used to drag race our AFX cars. We had a track set up the length of the basement and had the special starting line track with the spinners so you could do burnouts. We would modify the cars with the best magnets, glue the tires on and clean the pickup shoes. We had the cars doing smoky burnouts and melting the track and tires. Like I said, how can you not play with cool toys!

Thanks for the Pictures! I had two of those, and the JL Indy car also. Unlike the cars I own today, I played those to death, broke em, traded them off, handed them down, and finally sold them at garage sales.
I did enjoy them. The watch is all that survives, along with a 1970 GI Joe. The Joe is also new in its box http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Cool stuff, hey frank take a close up of the Mach-5,
do you guys recall the Hotwheels machine you could put plastic in and make your own cars??, If I recall it had three different molds, after it kicked of the mold you snaped on new axels with redlines, I think it was 70/71 when I had it, I have never seen another one and most people look at me crazy when I talk about it.
Bud.

Here is that first gen Camaro that I have with a date on the bottom of 1969. It had some funky paint scheme on it that has almost worn off. This one lead a rough life as I remember sitting in the back yard taking a key and scratching the roof of the car! http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

One more thing that I feel that I have to mention which I have never noticed till today. This is very ironic! Look at the bottom of the first gen Camaro dated 1969. It says Heavy Chevy! http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/cool.gif
