I guess the Canadian dealer was just trying to create a low cost alternative to the Judge. Check out the Mopar like bumble bee stripe on the rear. http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/eek.gif

"The Jury" was written up in an old HPP issues a while ago. I'm amazed at how many variations of Musclecars there were back then that were striped (sometimes modified) by dealers. But you know, the same holds true today. How many of us have seen "special" cars sold by a dealer, and they claim it is unique to their area? Over the years, I've seen several special versions of cars sold around the Chicagoland Area, including special Buicks (for golf tournaments), a Michael Jordan Chevy Blazer, and those infamous "GMO" Oldsmobiles of the late 1970's. http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/tongue.gif

Everyone was trying to create the Royal Bobcat or Yenko package back in the late 60's, it was a real money maker. It hopefully brought people into your dealership in search of that unique car. Jim Wangers pioneered this marketing tactic with help from Royal Pontiac. When Wangers left to start up his own Chevy dealership in the early 1970's, he tried the idea again with a special Monte Carlo and a special Vega. Both were successful.

"The Jury" was obviously a low cost alternative to the "The Judge". I think there was another version called "The Lawyer", but unfortunately this version was simply the dealer taking all your money and not giving you the car. http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

The 1970 Pontiac "Magnum 400" was another.

I recall reading in the Jim Wangers book that in the early 70's, he special ordered 50 Vegas in black, a color not available as a regular production color. He marketed them as something only his dealership could get, and after a dozen or so were sold, people started going to their favorite Chevy dealership asking to order a black Vega. The dealers couldn't special order just one black Vega without passing the additional cost onto the customer. Wangers bypassed this fee because he ordered 50 black Vegas at one time. Wangers said some dealers were getting so jealous of his black Vegas that they started telling customers that "those Wangers Vegas" had crappy paint jobs, and that the cars were resprayed at the dealership.

By the way, the story of his 1973 Nova 454 LS6 conversion for a customer was priceless. The EPA got involved, and that effectively put an end to the era of dealer engine swaps.

Mr. Wangers was THE marketing guru. http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/worship.gif
