I would be happy w/ this one personally:
http://www.mecumauction.com/auctions/lot_detail.html?CART=1080869519420169&LOT_ID=SC050 4-14346]70 L-78 (http://www.mecumauction.com/auctions/lot_detail.html?CART=1080869519420169&LOT_ID=SC050 4-14346)

but since they're all out of my price range currently, I guess I'd be happy tooling around in the "Mr. 5 & 50" '68 S/S Barracuda.
Mr. 5 & 50 (http://www.mecumauction.com/auctions/lot_detail.html?CART=1080869519420169&LOT_ID=SC050 4-14464)
...now how do I unsnap the seatbelts on the door so I can hang my arm out the window while cruising?

Anyone care to take a stab at the reserve on Al M. 68 Z drop top? I represented the car recently, had a firm offer of 750K but Al wanted 1Mil. Considering the Cuda Convert and what it has changed has at, the Camaro being rarer as one of a kind and the owner history I dont think the asking price is out of line. As the cover of muscle car review said, "Worlds Rarest Camaro". 69 ZL-1 and they are trading around 300K, whats it worth to be the collector who has the only one on the planet.......

Jeff,
With the weapons I would bet you have access to if you want that Camaro it would be a piece of cake for you to convince any owner it now belonged to you.

It will be interesting to see where that Z-rag ends up. I don't think you can compare it to a Hemi Cuda-rag, a Hemi 426 vs. Z28 302. I would have taken the $750k!

I had always thought that the 68 Z28 conv would be the highest dollar Camaro out there. But now that there's some proof popping up that one of the 69 ZL1's did have the JL8 4 wheel disc brakes, I would think that car would be the ultimate Camaro. If only the car could be found.

I know the story but I'd like to see paperwork on it. If one of the 69 ZL1's produced had rear discs, it would be neat, but I don't see where that would significantly enhance the value. It's just a brake option http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/dunno.gif

I'm not trying to disrespect JL8 cars, but was simply voicing my opinion. I think the '69 Chevelle with F41 is pretty rare, and can bump the value, but it's just a suspension option. The same idea with JL8, and neither scenario makes the car any faster, nor are they hi-perf options. So, I don't really see what the hype is over JL8 cars. I think they are neat, but.... Maybe it's me!

imo, i would still go with the 68 conv. Z. just for the sake of it being built special for pete estes, not only that, but being crossram and 4 wheel disc. equipped. and irrelevent to my opinion the fact is jl8 cars are very rare and sought after, according to the collectors of today.

To me there is No Contest.
I would Opt for the 1969 ZL-1 Camaro w/RPO-JL8,then remove the RPO-JL8.

I hear where you're coming from Marlin. I'd be curious to know how the JL-8 option would affect the value on a non-performance oriented Camaro, say just a plain 327 car. Would the JL-8 option alone make the car super desirable, as I'm sure there were probably way more SS cars and Z/28s that got the rear discs, making the plain janer even more rare and unique, but I don't think the JL-8 alone would make an otherwise ordinary Camaro fetch extraordinary coin. I think it's more of a frosting on the frosting kind of thing. It will add more value and appeal to a car that's already got alot going for it than it will as a rare stand alone option in itself. I think the same can be said for the endura bumper. It's often regarded as a "performance" option as well. I think an endura looks cool especially on certain colors, and generally speaking it makes any given Camaro more desirable, but how many performance oriented new car buyers actually considered it a "performance" option in '69? To be honest I think an endura probably weighs as much or more than a standard chrome bumper. I guess when it comes down to it, it's just a matter of personal preference. Do you want whoa, show, or go? http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/3gears.gif

It looks quite mean http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/biggthumpup.gif Lets hear some info on it if possible. http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/headbang.gif

Bob Jane ran the four wheel discs in the Australian championship, on his orange ZL-1. Cams our racing body made him take them off in the second year, as he could not produce proof that any car was manufactured with them. Not a production option on this car, no can do. Thats pretty well how Bob descibed it to me.
Oh year 3rd year they made him take out the engine, and we were never allowed over 6 litres again.

If someone can find real proof, Bob will be **** off

My question is this, how come Cliff E. is listed as the owner of the Yenko Camaro and Chevelle? Those two were sold to Gary H.a long time ago. Why does Mecum have this advertised in such a way?

If it is a clone then it is only worth what someone is foolish enough to pay for it. It would make a great sat night cruiser but there is not a great deal of value to a clone as compared to the real thing. http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbsdown.gif

With the amount of camaros out there why would someone pay a preimium dollor for a clone car when they could by a # matching SS, RS, SS/RS, Pace car, or a just plain less elusive car for the same if not cheaper amount? Theres more of an investment that way.
