I believe that eBay is only liable for VIN tag issues; Trim Tags are body broadcast #s(at the time of assembly) and I dont believe were used to ID a car through any DMV or local PD. However, if a prior car was stolen, if that owner had previously wrote down all the info from all tags, etc; that can be used as an altered ID on a vehicle(where one guys orig tag is on another current car's firewall-good notework and documenting by all of us will help this out but we cant stop the cars that were scrapped from being removed from). It's a sticky grey area that I wouldn't want to pursue with any car or gov't agency! Just my 2 cents... http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/beers.gif

Add: Isnt there current registry's being performed here or elsewhere(Camaros.org/net?),etc... where this is all being put into a database for future referencing? I know it would take an enormous amout of time and effort to amass(alike the GM-Chevy records currently sought). I would consider offering my car up for that database but I for one have always been rather reluctant to release my personal data like that unless we all can have piece of mind over it.... http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/dunno.gif http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/beers.gif

Direct quote from his ad:
"ATTENTION TRAILER PARK TRASH GOAT HUMPERS: This car costs cash. If you don't have it in your hands, don't bid. Don't take your family's grocery money and buy a project that you will never fix. If you bid and don't come through, I will find your IP address, and I will infect your computer with a virus much worse than any prostitute could give you. I will also get your phone number and call you and bother you until you pay me to shut me up. "

Both myself and CRG along with a few other folks record Camaro data and will not release the cars or owners info. We also both accept just the cars info and no owners info if you like that approach. I also record any Trim tags that are for sell without the vehicle from Ebay or where ever.

If you want to see something fishy take a look at this "x22" car. Kinda funny how an 11C car all of the sudden has an X code. http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/dunno.gif

I've got a real novice level question about the "X" codes.

What is the generally accepted production dates for "X" codes starting? http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/dunno.gif

Hhmmmmm! Well, here's my attempt at this once again: My PaceCar is in the 52xxxx area with a Body Broadcast # in the 28xxxx area with an 02B build; I also have an old Z10 Trim Tag showing Body Broadcast # in the area of 31xxxx with an 04C build. Would the trim Tag look authentic and the VIN be quite a bit later on this car in question? That tag looks correct, with the #s aligning up well but not with the VIN?http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/confused.gif http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/beers.gif http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/beers.gif

I also just noticed something else here; My Z10 tag #'s for the paint code have the first digit directly underneath the first digit of the Body Broadcast #: ie, 31xxxx and the 50 paint code having the 5 being directly underneath the 3 of the 31xxxx....This X22 tag has the 52 and the E moved over one position... http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/confused.gif http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/beers.gif http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/beers.gif
