I was bs'ing with SSL78,John P. and he suggested maybe people would like to see how some of our garages look to get ideas for their own...cant show you mine because I need a crowbar to walk in it...but maybe some of you would like to post yours for people to have a look at and maybe get an idea or two...thanks John....

This is not my garage, but a friend's. But it is a nice example of a garage/display area. He's got an actual two-door garage bay area on one side, and a display/storage area on the other. You can see in one of the pics a lift with a car on top and bottom both. Hope this helps.

This is perfect timing! My brother just moved into a new house and we need ideas for decoration. The garage is a conventional pull in two car garage. Around a 7 feet ceiling, so no lifts. We are thinking about U-Coating the floor, painting the walls white with a red stripe splitting into a gray bottom. Some Chevy memorabilia on the walls -- posters, tin signs, diecasts. On one wall we are going to put a wood shelf for trophies, books or decasts. Then in the rear of the garage we are hoping to get the Century 21 garage package which is a work bench, cabinet, shelf and racking system. Let me know if you guys approve. Also, where can we find decorations off of e-bay? Thanks.

Great timing for me as well, I'm also planning to redo mine after 19 years since we built the house. I was actually thinking along the same lines as Dan - white and gray paint split in the middle with some black/white checkered border and then another classic car border at the top. Have also been checking out various alternatives for the floor, but may wait a year or two for that. Was actually checking on the borders and paint today.

Unfortunately I don't have all those machines to put in it like Ken above http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/frown.gif. Besides, I've only got a 24' by 26' garage.

Here is my garage I had to attach it to the house and didnt want it to look bigger than the house. My biggest problem is I also like restoring and working on cars and only have the one garage, so my nice cars always get dirty. Front view

I want a garage like Charlies. Lots of room. What's going in there first, a tractor or a Corvette?

Charley Lillard

No Corvettes in there as I want to keep the wonderful rotten gas smell in the other Barn. I still need to put tin on the interior walls and run lights etc. We did the whole building without driving anything on the slab. I'm trying to keep the floor clean till I can coat it .

Have you guys seen this book?

http://www.motorbooks.com/pimg/136269.jpg

I got it for Christmas. Very cool ideas for how to lay out, blend and decorate garages. Everything from hidden three car garages at home to Jay Leno's barn... Cool cars, architecture and memorabilia.

Well worth the money.

If were to do the whole garage thing over again, I would have built a hobby room directly above the garage. Then I would have put a glass floor in the hobby room so whether your in the garage or in the hobby room, the garage is always in sight.

Mayor B - The garage picture with your Camaro was in Chevy Rumble right?

Darren - back in the day when still had my Cortez Silver '69 Z28, my garage looked identical to yours. Memories.

John- what size garage is that? That looks about the size I would like to build when we move into our next home.

Charley- http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/CharleySucks.gif I would love to have one barn much less two. Plus, I don't want to have to move to the sticks to build a barn.

There are some great garages out there, keep them coming.

Mark,
I'm not sure, but it looks like you are posting your thumbnail picture instead of the full -size picture.
Try opening the full picture on your screen, then right click on the picture, select properties, and you should see the file name for the picture (ends in .jpg). Copy this file name, then paste it into your posting using the Instant UBB Code for Image.

I hope this helps...

Hi Dave, the garage is 34 wide by 46 deep. I know they are never big enough but if I did it again it would be at least 3 feet wider so I could have a 18ft door instead of a 16ft.
