I'd use it... if it hasn't flown apart or imploded, self destructed, or whatever they claim they do in 30+ years, it's not going to now. JMO... (DISCLAIMER: Camarojoe takes no responsibility for the loss of any appendages, etc. http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif)

Here is a pic so you can judge for yourself just how bad you want to run one. here is the place where mine went through the hood of my '70 BM vette. took out the top of the fan schroud too.

I run the day 2 look on my 1969 Z/28. I don't have any trouble, but I am NOT making constant 7000rpm shifts either. I have an orange, green and red, white, and blue one. Also have a green one for a clutch fan that is NOS. Sam

For what it is worth I was just doing a small burnout in the parking lot of my business as I turned in the gate. A couple of my frinds were standing at the office door and I was just showing off how easy it was to spin the wheels when it happened. I was not even up to 5 grand when, wham...!!!! &#$ and there was a blade sticking about 1/2 way through the hood. \
Had to take a hammer to force it back out it was stuck so bad.
It was a green bladed fan. I am going to put one back on for show but when I run it you can be sure that it will not be on the motor!!!!

I've mentioned this before. I talked with the owner of Flex-a-lite some years back. Most problems were caused by owner misuse or installed incorrectly or owner tried to modify the fan by trimming the blades causing balance problems, using loc washers that gouged up/cracked the fiberglass, tightened down too tight etc. If you see these fans at swap meets ever notice how many 18" fans that have the ends gouged from hitting something???. Should of run a 17"!!
Also use common sense when running a used one. If it has cracks or gouges don't run it/buyit.
I will continue running mine with no sleep/worry problems whatsoever. A guy in my hometown, Jeff Ross runs an orange one on his '74 'cuda he bought new. Car runs in IHRA S/S class and won many class records in 2001/2002. Hasn't blown apart yet in 30 years.
