a friends dad grew up in macomb not far from leharpe, has told many stories over the years about the racing scene in the area, if anyone is interested ill see if i can get a refresh on some of the stories and see if he remembers any of the local cars from gibb. seems that everyone who was running hard ran a clutch turbo, his best friend ran a trans shop that pumped them out on a regular basis. does anyone have much info on the setup for this trans or have one in a car currently. the trans shop owner is original owner of a 68 z28 that was pretty potent. still owns it, saw it a few years ago still sporting the hole in trans tunnel from clutch blowout, cragars and old school street slicks.

We have one sitting in our shop floor. It came with dad's '68 Harrell funny car...not sure if that's what it ran back in the day or not, though. We went with a TH400 for simplicity...

I would like to hear some stories too because I live in Colchester about 6 miles west of Macomb. Unfortunatly I am alittle young to hear about all the "good" cars that ran around.

Hey Andy, be careful what you ask for. We'll introduce you to Boje and Howie. More stories than you can absorb in one week-end; and SOME of them are actually true! http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/bs.gif

Not from around there but I heard there was a type of amphetamine called White Cross...it was a form of speed...probably a cool play on words back then....
