The pictures Of these cars is indeed on the site
www.dickharrell.com (http://www.dickharrell.com) go to Forum and then to 2002 Z28 unveiling. Over 800 have found it so far. Hell! Even Helen Gibb knew it was going on.Those who missed it, Missed a gathering of some great people who built and raced the Harrell cars. I know Tim Lapata learned a great deal, The Harrell guys spent time answering lots of questions from everyone. Matt and his team built a great car.Sold 3 at this event. Gotta give credit where its due. Valerie stayed on top of Matt and he did more than agreed upon. dinner time

Dale,

It sure looks like one of the most successful debut gatherings I have ever read about. It is great to see how many folks still remember Dick for who he was, and what he accomplished. Matt has done an incredible job. It is wonderful that the final edition of the Camaro ended with a Dick Harrell tribute run. They are a great car, and a super compliment to the Camaro brand.

Dick was one of the first guys to latch onto the Camaro in 1967 and made it so popular with his funny cars. Can't wait to ride in one of those '02 DH Supercars. http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif

it was an event to remember for sure, i did get some pics but those being shown at other links are much better. the atmosphere around the place was exciting. kinda a drizzly evening. all the to be DH cars lined up out back with their prospective numbers on the windshield, the hoods up and already signed by the harrell family and others. several zl1's, earnhardt cars, and other gmmg package cars on display. it sounds like a winston cup racecar, and oh the smell of that high octane fuel! a night to remember, i feel as though i was a part of muscle car history. my hats off to the gmmg crew, job well done http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/beers.gif thanks to the harrell folks, such a nice and personable group of people, cheers to scott settlemire and the folks at chevrolet for keeping the dream alive, giving that gt40 some competition!

I was there but I left before they brought the car up. Did anyone get a vid of the car? I would really like to hear 600 HP and see what the 630 ft lbs could do. http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Glad everyone seems to like this car. The blue car will be on the power tour. for those who may be near. I think I have a prety fair idea what a good engine sounds like and this is one of them. These cars sounds bad to the bone.It also looks the part. More than just a few stickers and some bells and whistles here. DP

No. Sorry to say we are going to wait for Vals car and then hope we have the time and can afford to take it places. We are also trying to restore the 69FC which will be a long challenge.Matt hit the jack pot on the Kirby car. It was in pretty fair shape. I must say I really like that new Harrell car. The blue is just plain pretty. When we were there it hadnt been color sanded or rubbed out and it still looked great. All the Harrell guys liked it also and they would be the 1st to let you know if they didnt feel it was worthy of the name. The fact that so many showed to pay tribute to the man says a lot about him. I heard a rumor one of the original mechanics from Dicks shop may be driving one of the southern legs in the 2002 DH SuperCamaro. Any facts to this rumor? http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/cool.gif

They are painted at GMMG. When we were at the unveiling there were two other Harrell cars waiting to get sprayed in their paint booth. Dan http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/cool.gif

The body work and prep is done at GMMG and then taken to a place nearby with a state of the art paint booth.
I didnt hear of any Harrell guys driving the car on the tour but that would not suprise me.
I am not sure how the engines differ from the ZL1 phase 3 to these. As normal though. time brings more technology and that brings more power, I wanted to tune up the heads a bit on Valeries but Matt doesnt want me too. Guess us west coast guys dont know nuff about that.

Lets put it this way. We know that flow doesnt always make it go.
My guy did a set of heads for a top team last year that was down 50cfm on flow that made 50ft lbs of torque and 35 HP more than the leading heads they had We also know the difference between streetable power and having to be over 6000 rpm to make it run.
I thought you were on the road. Val and i wanted to talk with you. DP

Matt I am sure would, if he could find the time to sit down for 30 minutes. He has already shared plenty where it counts. The magazine articles will be great reading when they are published.

Matt Murphy is unbelieveably busy right now. I don't know how he does it. I'm sure if and when he has the time he will reply.

ken, they'll be hammering it at the St.Louis dragway, outta be a sight to see. they'll trailer them due to time restraints between the showings, haven't enough time to repaint, and don't want to take chance of accidents like happened last year w/ the berger car.

I made it to Davenport last week for the Power Tour stop and got to see the '02 Dick Harrell prototype #2. What an accomplishment by all the parties involved. This car is a fitting tribute to Dick Harrell. It will be fun to see the production vehicles. http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/cool.gif
