I own an 87 Camaro. It has a motor which after you close the hatch it is supposed to pull the hatch down tight however, this motor works on and off. More off than on at the present time. Does anyone know a way of closing my hatch completely without using this motor. In other words is there a way around this or do I need to search for a new motor. Is there any reset button on the unit? Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Pull the power wire out of the motor, then adjust the motor to the down position but leave enough room to still close the hatch. To adjust the motor use a power drill to move it up or down. There is a bolt on the side to adjust it. Mine went out just this last year and I am not about to pay the price for a new one. Or just get one out of a 86 or older camaro/firebird without the electronic hatch. Mark

I was told this at one time, by AndyZ28 (the guy that makes the replacement 3rd gen door hinges):
"Contact Lon Salgren at Top Down Solutions Inc.
[email protected] 1-626-369-0040 He is the ONLY one that I can suggest. He has a wealth of information and parts for the hatch pull down motors."
I also found this info:

these motors are always advertised on ebay reasonably. i occasionally look them up, lots of "hot rod" builders use them.
thanks
