If anyone cares, I was at a local car show today and saw the Cadillac and Hummer dealer goods among everything else. I hear "Caddy with 'vette engine" in the background. Its a Cadillac CTS with an LS6 and 6-Speed trans, called CTS-V. With 400hp and 395lb-ft they claim 0-60 in 4.6 seconds and 1/4 mile in 13.1 seconds @ 107mph. They also tweaked the suspension and threw on big brakes. I'm not big on the Caddy chiseled and tall tail styling, but hey this is getting better.

I guess this is not your "Fathers Cadillac"--At this rate I'll have to change my Chevy Power shirt to Caddy's Rule-- http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/burnout.gif

I'm thinking that was what I saw @ the hospital the other day? As I was headed to the parking lot I saw a black car slink by with a decent exhaust note, and then notice it was a new Caddy. Not my cup of tea, but headed in the right direction...

There was a road test on Saturday morning on Speed.
Boy that thing is nice with 14" Brembo brakes, and 400 HP they said it will stop as quick as a 996. Sure beats the hell out of the Catera.

Hmmmm, a Cadillac with 400hp and a 6 speed? My wife may finally want to trade her Eldo Touring Coupe http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif Are they available in white? It's the only color she'll have....

With all the good stuff going on at Cadillac maybe there will be some chance of a COPO GTO program http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

As for the blower, I think that is being used on the 4 cam convertible model.

two years ago i was @ the gm tech center and saw the prototype for these cars being built. two corvette "mule" chassis being fitted with prototype caddy body panels, another mostly complete caddy without drivetrain up on a lift, got to walk under it and talk with the tech center guys doing the installation. very cool tour indeed. saw lots of holden midsize cars torn apart in the same type of comparison with other gm models. as always no cameras allowed.

Did I hear right?

The CTS is being built in Bowling Green, KY on the same platform as the Vettes? Correct me if I'am wrong please.

They are.....one of the coolest things that I have seen in my career is when I worked at the Caddy dealer and they dropped off the CTSV...I was right there. They unloaded it NOT out of a normal transport truck but an enclosed semi truck with the two levels and there were brand new Z06 Vettes rigt in front of them....damn where was my camera when I needed it!

No. Cadillac has two cars that share parts with the Vette. This CTS-V car is on the Sigma platform which started in 2002(?) with the V6 5-speed CTS, which is still available with the choice of two V6s. They threw a bunch of new parts on it (LS6, 6-speed, big brakes, suspension, front and rear fascia mods...) along with some bracing and heavier rear frame rails to build the monster CTS-V. The other car which is based on the Corvette (Y) platform is the XLR with the 4.6L Northstar V8 and a retractable hardtop.

It's easy to get the letter cars crossed.

CTS-V = LS6, 6-speed...4-Door Sedan, Sigma Platform

XLR = 4.6L Northstar, 5-speed, 2-Door, Rect. Hardtop, Corvette Platform

On the V16 1000hp, 1000lb-ft cruiser, I think it was killed last fall. Too bad, I wanted to see and hear it go.

The Cadillac 16. I'm with Paul, I'd like to see and hear it go. I think Charley needs to build a car around one of these.

The CTS-V is a very cool car. I think I read in Autoweek that Cadillac is working on a future 600hp version. Anyone hear something similar?
