My friend Hans found an ad from -82 in which a -69 Chevelle SS 427 was sold here in Sweden. It says in the ad that the car has a very unusual high mph speedometer.

In which cars,other than COPOs, could you get the 140 mph speedometer ?

Well Anders, I certainly can't confirm what possible vehicles got the high speedo, maybe somebody else can help you there.

Also, I'm not aware of any "69 SS-427 Chevelles" from the "factory". As you are probably aware, COPO's were Malibus and did not have any "SS" emblems on them. SS-427 dealer conversions were obviously available.

Don Iīm aware of, like you said, that the 427 cars were not SS cars. Some of them, most likely, got SS emblems on them as a day two conversion.
Hans also remembers ad in which a Baldwin Motion -69 Chevelle was sold here in Sweden. He canīt find that ad right now. And of course we donīt know if it was a fake.
We were thinking that mabye both ads were about the same car.
So does any BM cars have 140 mph speedos ?

As far as the 140MPH speedometer goes,maybe a Police car?

Jeff, I bought a -69 SS 396 Chevelle parts car a few weeks back, and it had a 200 kph speedo.
But 140 mph would be something like 225 kph.

Jeff, the front glass on this 200 kph speedo is broken.
Are you still interested ?
The speedo in my COPO and the one in my SS 396 Chevelle are both of the mph-type.This is very common on private import cars over here. I was thinking of mabye taking parts from both Chevelle speedos and make one good 200 kph for my car.
