Greetings, does anyone have any information on a '67, '68, '69 Chevy Camaro Z-28 'Macho' special edition? I am looking for verification they were made, production numbers and wanting to know more information about their credibility?

This car had 'Macho' badges along the lower rocker molding, and internal roll bar. That's about all I know, except that only 10's to 20's were made each year.

Any information or rumors would be helpful.
Thank you,
Greg.

I've heard of Mecham "Macho" Trans Ams, but those were 78-80 models. I've never heard of the "Macho" nomenclature being used on a Z/28 of any model year. http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/dunno.gif Also, before someone else has to say it, please fill out your profile information. http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/biggthumpup.gif Thanks.

Mecham pontiac in Glendale Arizona did do some z/28's at the same time they did the trans am's(ie 80-84 time frame). not any 67-69's though that I am familiar with.

Thanks for the input guys, I have since found out these cars were made by DKM (Dennis and Kyle Mecham). They made around 200 each year from '78 - '80 in the Trans Ams, but only one Z28 in '78 and then 100 in '79.

I have found the No. 1 prototype, the very same car that was featured in September 1978 Hot Rod Magazine.

It's a white car with Red stripes, roll bar, rear battery, functional air intake, hooker headers, straight pipes (catalytic converters only).

It has 95,000 original miles and is in unrestored excellent condition. Original paint, no rust.

Can anyone tell me the approximate value of this car, how sought after it might be, and how many of the Macho Z's exist?

Thanks in advance for the information
Greg.

There was one at Barrett Jackson I think two years ago. I think it brought about 11K.

Cool find http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/biggthumpup.gif Could you post up some nice clear pics? The article was all black and white. I just read that article a few weeks ago going through that old 78 issue of Hot Rod.
