Not sure where he got this but it looks like it had a lot of attention given to it....Nassau Blue/blue interior, LA/Van Nuys car,1 piece bumpers,Cal. emissions (PCV),4 speed.Dual quad.Positraction 409 ! This car took quite a few years to complete and has many Gold Spinners ad well as Best of Show at Chicago's Chevy Vettefest. Also invited to participate in the Top Gun Showcase...It's nice.

I gott say...you did a nice job on it, Bob! The lighting in my shop doesn't do the paint/color justice...it's absolutely laser straight.

Hey isn't this considered conflict of interest??? http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/dunno.gif Either way that thing sure would look good with a trunk full of batteries and some gold 13 inchers. http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

I believe this car was restored by our own Belair62, over the course of 4-5 years. BTW, if anyone has a crossram manifold for a 409...I'm looking to buy one. Belair62 has an old picture of this car with the crossram setup installed.

Thanks for the comments..it was a car I dreamed of owning since I first saw those valve covrs...I wasn't making room for anything but it is so nice there was nothing at all I could do with it...no trailer,no space ...yada yada...it sat on top of a lift for all the time it was done.I didn't want to get it dirty !!..Steve will take care of it and it can finally breathe without a damn cover on it...it's in the best hands..plus....Steve has the capability to disinfect it because of this....

Steve,
I'm sure you know why I LIKE that car! Of course, mine has a different roof line............
As for the M/T cross ram, they come up on ebay on a regular basis, but waaaay overpriced (in my opinion). Hardly anyone ever puts one on a car - they're mostly "wall art". Just remember, if you put one on the car, you won't be able to close the hood! http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/eek.gif

If you're gonna' do that, then you'll need a set of chrome-reverse wheels with whitewalls up front and a pair of narrow blackwall M&H slicks out back. Then you'll have to drop the back of the car and jack the front. Weld on some tow tabs. Yeah, open headers too, or at least a pair of ratty-sounding glasspacks. Toss an old open-face Bell helmet on the front seat. Driving apparel sould be a white T-shirt with a Mickey Thompson ad on the front, cuffed jeans, black loafers. Yep, a crew cut is called for here. Hmm, what else...

I keep hearing those open headers in the song "409" when I'm looking at the photos of this blue bubbletop...

Bill...you sound like you're old enough to remember those days. They were the good ol' days, for sure. Next came the micro-vans with flowered paint jobs. http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/headbang.gif

Steve, I'm the exact age of your blue 409 car but I got lots of old 50s-70s Hot Rod mags, car books out the wazooo, etc. Oh, and I surely do remember sitting in my high school library reading Hot Rod during the custom van period circa 1976-77. They even brought that hideous Levi Jeans "Denimachine" Ford van to the school once for some promotional event. If the name "Denimachine" means nothing to you, consider yourself fortunate.

No guys, let's not get a "remember vans" thread going...

Gorgeous car, Steve, it looks right at home with all the other fabulous cars in your collection. Glad I had the privilege of seeing it in person at Vette Fest last fall - after the McDonalds debacle http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

Every time I see one of those 409/409 cars I'm reminded of a story once told to me by a former coworker, about going with a good friend of his to take delivery of a brand new one from a Chevy dealer in Chicago. They sat in the car with engine running, waiting to pull out of the service department while the salesman explained the special break-in procedures for the high performance engine. Salesman finished his spiel, they pulled out onto the street and burned rubber for a block, banging gears http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/3gears.gif http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/3gears.gif So much for the break-in http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif
