Need some help. Found a 1969 SS Nova, 21,000 miles thought to be correct. Its reputed to be an L78 but the tank sticker (which was there) was to washed out to read and the build sheet under the back seat was there, but chewed to pieces by a rat. Any help for how to ensure this was a true L 78 Nova?

Golfer,
Here are a few things to look for>
There should be a single fuel line (No return line)
Power disc brakes
If there is a factory dash tach it should read 6K
Heater hoses should be routed to center of heater box
Most L78s came with BT 3:55 rear ends
Good Luck....21,000 miles http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/worship.gif

golfer;

I would be interested in seeing the tank sticker. Those are ultra rare on Novas. Do you have a picture? Or are you going to the National Nostalgic Nova Nationals in Atlanta the 28 - 31 of this month? If so could you bring it. I might be able to scan it and restore some of the info.

If you have most of the pieces of the Fisher build sheet it might be possible to piece it together.

Thanks,

You didn't mention if there was a driveline in the car. If the engine is still there then the front block pad may tell the story. TW

All the numbers and date codes on the car match except the carburetor. If I can figure it out, attached is a picture of the paper I retrieved from the top of the gas tank. I will have the car at the Nova Nationals in Atlanta on Friday and Sat - maybe Thursday.

Thanks for the picture. I have not run across that location for paperwork on a pre 73 car. I look forward to seeing you and your car in Atlanta.
