Looks like an L78 car with date matched heads added later on.
Sharp looking car though.

I agree, that's probably what it is, but if you read down in the part of the description where they are quoting from an article about this car in Super Chevy magazine, it says "That was okay for a few years, but then Terry met up with the original engine form the car - a 396-375 with aluminum heads." http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/dunno.gif

I wouldn't call Super Chevy gospel. Definitely would hold up in a court of law. http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/haha.gif That is an awesome car!

Yeah, I saw that. The "KF" code though doesn't jive with the aluminum heads. http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/scholar.gif
It shouldn't matter. It's still great looking L78 car with the bonus of some really nice aluminum heads to go with it. http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/cool.gif

The description seems honest. A L78 car w/ L89 heads. In fact he does not claim the car to be a L89.
This statement could be construed as misleading: "original engine form the car - a 396-375 with aluminum heads."
I wonder when the heads joined the engine and where is the original L89 car?

i thought the 'k' in the engine code was for alum heads. i know 'jd' is the code for a 4 speed L78 and kd is the code for an alum head 4 speed L78... http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/scholar.gif

Actually for a true factory L89 aluminum head 396 375hp T-400 it would be KH coded. KD is L78 manual tranny, no aluminum heads.
KF is 375hp T-400 no aluminum heads. He does say the heads are 1969 date coded and his title says L78 so I would bet they are added later.
He must of lost points for the 67 rally center caps. I don't see the SS wheels he claims on the auction. Not to be picky but he is asking over $45k for the car.

I'm fairly sure that I looked at this car earlier this year at a car show near me. It was a beautiful car. Probably the nicest car at this particular show http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/biggthumpup.gif. I vaguely remember talking to the owner and believe he did mention that the aluminum heads were added. I have a couple of photos at home. His hometown is only 2 hours from me.

No, I was right, you are wrong! Well, you are partially wrong. KD is NOT aluminum head L78. KH is the correct stamp for the car on ebay If it was to be a true L89.

I don't need to look it up. Someone already did that. http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/scholar.gif
