Joe...what kind of rear flares were put on the car ?
Bob,----Gary made the flares on the car by working and bending the rear wheel-well lip out , then forming the extra metal into a larger lip. The underside was filled and layered with fiberglas, following the flare contour, to give it a thick and smooth underside----

Joe....how did you manage to hang on to your car for so long ? Did you just shove it off to the side and forget about it ???
That's about what happened Bob--'79 A Family member got a grave lingering illness and priorities just got shifted around ----The Buick Grand National in 1987 got me interested again in cars and I started working on the Chevelle.--What made me hold on to the car so long------ Lets just say the car provided some good/fun memories of a time gone by, that at the time were much needed and welcomed----- http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/beers.gif

Joe I love your Chevelle man... Did you ever realize it was such a special machine being a Baldwin/Motion car back then? Or was is just a car that you enjoyed owning? Just wondering if Baldwin/Motion carried the same stigma back then as it does today.. BTW.. you need to give me a ride in that some day. Don't ever sell it. http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Actually Bob--There were headlight tinting kits and tinted plastic inserts that guys were putting on their cars just to customize the car--I happened to need real fog lamps(Lucas)--and they worked great---Unfortunately, Missed Woodstock--
Shor--That was a http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/cool.giffluke with the license plate number
ED---We just drove them--I never intended to have the car this long--As far as it being special---At the time I just thought being able to order a car loaded with performance options and invoiced thru a dealership as new with a warranty or factory warranty was just neat thing--
Frankie Deuce---You would have fit in with my old crowd just fine--
Thanks Guys for all the jokes and compliments --Joe http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/beers.gif

Joe,
If your experience back then was anything like mine with my BM Vette, they would just get a blank look in their eyes and say whats a Baldwin Motion? To them it was just a cool car.
There was seldom anyone that really appreciated or even knew just what a BM car was back then. In fact it still is few and far between around here, that know what I am talking about. (Except Ed aka=55chev)

http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif--That's true---I remember one time --A friend and I were crusin in my Chevelle and this pretty blue/white '56 chevy with lakers pulled up along side of me at a stop sign early in the AM along MITCHELLS and asked me "whatca got"---I told him --396 stock http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/naughty.gif---He gave the car the once over and said "Yeah Right.--C'MONNN"
OK -I said--It's a Motion car---he sat there http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/confused.gif--What the @&$% is a Motion car?--I said you know,- Motion, Dana, Harrell, Yenko---He still sat there http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/confused.gif---Yenko!-He said --What the @#&%, are the Chinese making Chevelles now? --My friend leaned over and said yeah After a guy with a Yenko beats you, a hour later He'll come back and beat you again.

Man ..it's still true today.. only those of us who are really into these awesome machines actually know the history of them and what they truely are.. A neighbor of mine came over the other day and helped me lift the hood of my Olds and we got to talking cars.. He has an '88 Corvette in his driveway he starts up now and then and revs it up for 10 min or so (fogging away all the bugs around it with the oil smoke, but claims it has 500hp)... he considers himself a car guy.. and I attempted to talk Baldwin/Motion Vettes with him that day... ..... and I got a blank stare.. He had no clue.. So I just left it at that and didn't even attempt to explain what one was.... We are a different breed when it comes to these machines... I guess those of us who know.. just know better. http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

JoeG,
-------Thats a Champ. Built in Miami. Kind of a DONZI wannabe with a little less of a degree V-bottom. Lots of them were metalflake gel-coat and pretty ugly, but all said and done a pretty fair little boat. Handled decently.........Bill S

All of the fast boats use GM/Chevy power now days. One of the few places where you can use whatever you want for power and go fast without getting the local uniform people anoyed.
I attached a photo of my small boat. A 21' custom out of california. Superb workmanship but best of all it is powered by a 572 C.I. chevy, forged crank, carillo rods, JE pistons, full roller cam, crane 1,7 rockers, polished and ported Dart heads, Dart intake, 850 BG carb and it runs all day on pump fuel. Clocked at 111.3 on radar.
When you cannot run it on the road put the engine in a boat! http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/cool.gif
