I was offered that car a couple months ago and was told it was in Ca. but at GM at Carlisle there was a car on display that was supposed to be the Mario car and it was also for sale but from the East. ???? Are there two cars with the same claim ?

I saw an ad the other day, but can't remember where, for a Mario car (I believe it was a Pace car), and it stated that "it could have possibly been ordered by Mario Andretti"...you had to read to see it in the description, but it just struck me as funny.

If its the true one its the #3 Pace Car that was awarded to Mario after the race. Should have a plaque stating that fact mounted on the car, but then again I have heard it was removed since the owner at the time didnt like the way it looked

The add also said it had documents to prove his claim.... I don't know I just seen it today. Jeff your right about the car if it is real then it was the one that was awarded to Mario after the race.. Mark

Didn't Hoppers book have more details about Mario Andrettis' 1969 Camaro Pace Car,like VIN# etc.?
I can't even find that book anymore,as it is out of print.

I remember the seeing the add. If i remember it correctly his description was that this was one of the media cars that was signed by mario. He talked about the mario car and made it sound like it was his car, but if you read between the lines it was a media car. I believe i saw it on e-bay also.

If it was the one on Ebay with Mario and Michael Andretti's "signatures" inside the trunk on the trunklid I'd like to know what a repro trunklid was doing on the car if it was a media car. How old was Michael Andretti in 1969, about -3 year old?

I would imagine that he may have gotton Mario's signature at that time and added Michael's at a later date. Most people get the dash signed, i found it odd that he got the inside of the trunklid signed, most likely it was signed and then added to the car. A little tough to haul around a dash to some event.

Assuming either signature is real, I would say he more than likely had it signed pretty recently, since the car has been restored in the not do distant past. Assuming this is the same car. I would find it hard to beleive that a car that did not sell on Ebay for 35K would all of a sudden be advertised at 175K 3 months later.

Don't know what happened to the last link but here it is again:
Camaros.net Discussion (http://www.camaros.net/forum/ultimatebb.php?ubb=get_topic;f=2;t=008719#000002)

And heres the last Ebay auction for the car with the signatures unfortunately the pictures are gone:

Ebay Auction (http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=2479713677&catego ry=6173)

Assuming the partial Body number in the ad is correct (12467 NOR 2985??) that car isn't even a Festival car as it's probably a late March car.
