1967 Shelby GT500 #888: Nightmist Blue , 1 of 46 67's with Parchment interior, super rare factory radio delete, 4 speed. The original owner was deaf, he ordered the car without a radio for obvious reasons.Rumor has it that not even his girlfriend was allowed to ride in the car, he was very protective of his true love! I have every slip of paperwork from new including the showroom brochures and the "Ford High Performance" soft-bound pocket book with all Ford-powered cars, Shelby invoice, Ford invoice, etc.Even the original keys! The original owner was also a biker, and in 1971 was in a wreck on his Harley that made him unable to drive because of brain damage. He stored the Shelby in his garage and literally chased people away that tried to buy it until he eventually sold it in 2001.

Although the car was in excellent shape, it was sent to Cobra Restorers to have a full tilt rotisserie resto done. A few bolt on mods were done to make it a little more interesting , shall we say, like big brakes, Cal Trac bars, and an aluminum head, stroked date-code correct 428 PI engine, 12.5:1 compression, big cam, full roller valve train, Holley 660 center squirt carbs, "bundle of snakes" headers w/3" exhaust , hidden MSD ignition, etc... 563HP on the dyno. The original motor , complete from air cleaner to pan, valve covers, wires, manifolds and even the H pipe, is on a cart in my office! Someday I am sure I will bolt the factory stuff back on and swap the motor out, but right now it is just too much fun. If you are going to drive a car, you might as well have it how you want it, right?

A rather senseless exercise is mashing the throttle with the repop Speedway 350 tires on the car!

Yenko guys should recognize the extra gauges that are mounted on the trans hump - a set of NOS S-W green line gauges, vac, water temp and oil temp. They matched the factory S-W oil pressure and amp gauges that Shelby installed.

Anybody that wants a ride is welcome to stop by - pay up your life insurance first!
