How did you keep the miles so low? Was it a race car, or nobody drove this car? amazing!!http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/dunno.gif

Hmmm...Wisconsin tags.

How? And Wisconsin tags? I grew up in Wisconsin and got the Yenko in Wisconsin.
How. My cousin (Dennis) and I were car nuts from the get go. We did all kinds of car stuff. In 67 we decided we were going to go "real racing" and bought the Barracuda in early 68. We only had it a little while when Uncle Sam tapped Dennis to go play in the jungles. We decided to store the car till he returned. In the mean time I picked up the Yenko. As luck would have it Uncle Sam Tagged me for the jungles. I ended up being a Captain in the Special Forces "Green Berets". (A side note my son - in - law is currently in the Green Berets and in Iraq). Anyway when I left I also stored the Yenko. My cousin Dennis never returned. With college and the added baggage of the experience I left them in storage. Then with the career , living in Europe and the Far Eat, time just went by. (They were stored in a humidity and temperature controlled environment.)
In July of this year I decided I would put both back into original working condition. We have the Barracuda done and the Yenko is almost done. I would say they are true "unmolested originals".
The first time the "world" will see them in many many years is at the Re-Union. I am thrilled Tom and Rob let me bring both cars.
I am looking forward to meeting you guys and putting faces to the login names. We will have lots of beverage. http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/beers.gif

Maybe i can change my wife's due date for our fourth child. Take plenty of pictures Steve and look forward to the CD Garnet M20. I love the cars and racing , but, will plan around them next time, missed York, Brickyard 400, and going to miss Bristol. Family comes 1st. Nothin' personal against Tom and Rob but somehow I think the general membership would have overuled these two if they declined your offer to bring them. http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/worship.gif
I too am looking very forward to seeing these cars. I was not coming this year due to commitments but because of what the showfield was/is doing, I realized that would be a fatal mistake.

Very cool car and story! I've always been interested in military history, especially SF,SOG,etc. operations in SE Asia. Do you mind if I ask what year(s) you were there? Dan http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/cool.gif

Camarojoe and Hvychev,
I bought my first 69 Yenko from Bob Johnson in Wausaw Wis. A LeMans blue 4 -speed. I had it for a couple of months and had a valve spring break. It dropped a valve and mushroomed the piston and cracked the cylinder wall. It needed a new block and head. It had only a few thousand miles on it. Unfortunately there was a big truck strike and nobody could get parts. I was told 2-4 months to repair. Uncle Sam had tapped me and I knew I would be leaving soon so I asked Bob Johnson to get me another one. I traded the first one in and then got the second both from Bob Johnson. I had the second Yenko a couple weeks before I had to leave.
As it turns out I lost track of the first one. It was not untill I saw the listing on Ed. C copo site that I ran across it again. I have the bill of sale, all the paperwork, window sticker etc, for that car, including the work order for the blown motor. I heard it did take 3 months to get it fixed. I mentioned to Ed C. that I had all the original paperwork and would give it to the owner. Ed contacted the owner who said he has sold the car. Once it surfaces again I will get all the paperwork to the new owner via Ed.
The second Yenko, I was told when I picked it up that Bob Johnson pulled it from another dealer. Told me my time line was to short. Again when I found Ed C's copo site I found my Yenko but it was listed as sold from another dealer. All my paperwork is from Bob Johnson. When I get time I will use Ed C's talent and knowledge to straighten it all out.
I did buy both Yenko's new.

I have a Yenko Camaro from Bob Johnson as well. Too bad it's Fathom Green or I'd be calling you for paperwork. http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/beers.gif

Oh, BTW...did you ever get that bottle hid under the spare tire with the hose weaved under the sill, thru the firewall that you were telling me about yesterday? http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/biggthumpup.gif
He spent one week alone just Polishing the bottle! http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/burnout.gif
