I have a question about the protect o plate book for my camaro. On the edge, in has the vin number punched out with little holes.(see photo)it reminds me of the old computer tapes. Does anyone know why this was done? and if it was done in 67 and 69? Thanks, Lester

Saw one like that from a California built L78 Camaro

Done in 68 only, I think. It makes the 68 POP harder to fake.

My 68 POP has that as well. Mine is a Norwood car.

I've seen that POP stamp on 68 Camaros and Chevelles. Seems to be specific to the 1968 model year.
In addition, it looks like both Norwood and Van Nuys used the same system.
Correct me if I'am wrong please.

68 only, the VIN is stamped on the one edge of the booklet.

All 68 POP's that I've seen. I've seen big cars, Chevelles, Novas, and Camaros with it. It would require tooling at each plant.
