I finally picked up a good used '97 Dodge Diesel Dually to pull the Motion vette with. So many on the forum have expressed a desire to see it unrestored, this will be your chance.

Please remember to be kind to it when you see how shabby it looks. It was a long time ago and I had a bad case of Racing fever and when I spun a bearing in it setting FTD at a auto-X at Hallett motor raceway, I just took it home and parked it in the back yard. I fully planed on going through the motor and getting it out to cruse the local drive-in with but never seemed to have the time.

Back then, I was working all the time on my 69 L-88 SCCA Vette, so both of my Motion cars were just sorta forgotten.
I even opened a body shop and it was too successful for me to ever get much done on the Black car. I did get as far as striping the black paint off the body. It still is setting there as far as I got on it today.

The 69 Motion was wrecked from behind and I just was too interested in winning my division and going to the runoffs at Alanta GA. in the SCCA car.

Between my used car business two teenage boys turning of age to learn to drive. I had a rageing ambition to be the next Mario Andretti, everything I did was for SCCA racing and it was just too much to try to work on the Motion's. Then I had the misfortune of getting passed like I was tied to a tree by a Can AM Lola Chev powered racecar. This was not just a pass but I was flat out in my vette on the back straight of Dallas's old airport when this blip went by on my left. I looked down to see if I had broke or something. Nope I was taching 7 grand in top gear with a 3:70 rear. He was just gone in a moment. This was a long runway and I got to see him take the corner at the end so fast it was not funny. From that moment on I just had to have one.

Well I bought a old F-5000 chev powered car just to see what it was like to go that fast. Well it was fast and fun but the motor blew up and I sold the roller and kept what was left of the motor. Next I traded a pair of used midyear vettes for a Can Am Lola like the one that blew me into the weeds.

That cost me a small fortune to put together and I never have gotten to drive it. One of these days I will finish it. About that time I decided to refinace my property and hire a professional mechanic to finish the car for me. I had dreams of makeing a "name" for myself in Can AM so I bought all new bodywork called a "Frissbee" and making the new car a ground affects class killer. I have the same car as a Lola that won at Mossport in 85. It was owned by Horst Kroll but he rented it to a new driver that went on to be a big name in Indy cars.

Unless you have ever gotten the racing fever you may not ever understand how you can put a nice car like ether one of my Motion cars out to pasture and just let them set and go to pot. I am so ashamed of the way they look. I hope that you all will be kind to me for my folly.

I am so glad that I never sold either one of them and you all have been so great to me on here. Going through the divorce back in 94 was fortunate as if she knew what they are worth today I would have been forced to sell them.

I has taken me many years to pay off the cost of that divorce and you can't know how I feel to find this forum.

So ragged as it is, you are all welcome to see the White W/gold stripe vette that I have horded all these years. Hope not too much of the paint flakes off on the trip up to SCR7. I am only using a open trailer to get it there. We will be out at the Drags on Fri. Then it will be in the building later that night.

Perhaps next year you will get to see both of my cars all dressed to kill and looking like new?

I will try to get time to have the pic blown up. I have very little left of this car in the way of pic. I had the best shots on my wall facing west years ago and being polaroids, I never thought they would fade like they did. They faded out so bad that I threw them away years ago. This car was never in a magazine, or carshow, so nobody even knew it existed.

I was hopeing that the original owner had some pic but he can't find any either so one of these days it will be looking new and we will see that it getts its picture taken for sure. I do hope someday to have Joel see the car one more time.

Final for now - Hood damaged by fanblade coming through during a burn-out. Patched but never finished off.

Hope you don't get sick seeing these. It looks better in the pic than in person.

Seeing it like that means more to me than a totally restored vehicle that technically has nothing of the original in it.

Very cool!

Thanks guys...! I mean it..! It is a hard subject to have to admit that such a wonderful car has gone so downhill in my hands. I can only add that it will not look like that next year. I wish I was better organized but my work season just ended today. collected my last check from a Pool repair job. I am officially retired as of today. Now all the hard work starts. http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbsdown.gif

Working on the Motions will be my only pastime for the next 6 mo or so. Of course the rental property will take up some time but I intend to put at least 2 or 3 hr or more every day working on them. I have has so much "roundtuit's" waiting for me that it is not funny.

Larry this has been a busy summer for me. I'm restoring am old farm house to hopefully move into soon. I did not realise it would be so much work. Have not had too much time to play cars. When the house is finished then I get to build my new shop!! I have to get out of the city, they say I make too much noise.

If I get a chance to get up that way I'll give you a call. Sure would like to see your cars. Take care.

Ok we made it back home in one piece. Hope everybody is happy with the show and the tired ole Motion Vette that we dragged with us.

Everbody was nice and it was neat to make new friends and greet old ones.

All of us were thrilled and one is ready to go back if it was next week.

It will take forever to go through all the pic that my crew took. I don't think there was a burnout that one of them didn't get on film.

Thanks all
Pantera and Crew.

It truly is an awesome piece of Baldwin/Motion history.. And me being the only person in, how many years Larry? 15+, to sit behind the wheel with the car in "motion" http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif (even though it only felt like about 4 or 5 Manpower http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif)

Ed (55chev) sure seems to think so.

Thanks for all the help and it was a blast to get to meet everybody in person finally.

I like Franks pictures they make the car look almost good in places.

I guess it is time to get out the tools and paint gun and get to work. I am sure looking forward to it. The 69 also at the same time. While one is drying I can patch up the other.

You can be sure that my friends, myself and my lady had a wonderful time. I just wish that I had a extra day or two to get the info down on a poster board but there was just not enought time. My last job of the summer ran over about a week and that made us have to hussle just to make the show.

I think I had to move half of the world to get this car out and on a trailer and then the tires would not stay up with it on the ground and we had to mount up 4 so that we didn't have a flat tire every 4 hours during the show.

The time it took just to get it cleaned up as good as it was would suprise you.

Hope everybody had as good a time as I did.

Yea that was my place (Super Car Center) from Oct, 1972 to 1986. I still have the property but closed the used car operation because the Body shop (Called Corvette World) and the swimming pool business was better and the car business was just not as much fun anymore.

I quess the lack of real muscle cars being made was one reason I gave it up. I have always been a Corvette Nut. But boy did I have fun when I was running it. I bought and sold almost 300 vettes. 4 Pantera's. I remember I remember a maroon 69 Z-28 that I owned 2 times. Paid $900 the first time and $1400 the second time. Wish I could buy it back for that now. It was one that didn't have a rear spoiler.

We had so many Camaro's and Mustangs and Dodge Chargers and baracudas I can't even count them. It would make you cry if you saw the prices I paid for cars back then. Hell it makes me cry just thinking about what I sold them for back then. Wish I could buy one for that nowdays.

I remember taking a nice red '68 SS-396 Chevelle apart and making a stockcar out of it. Makes me sad to think I did that back then (1980).

Thanks for asking, Glad you liked the Motion.
