LS-6 Corvette

The LS-6 vette seems to be a forgotten or not so desirable muscle car, you always hear about mid year vettes, 435h.p cars, LS6 Chevelles, Z28's but never about LS-6 vettes, is it because they're low compression?
I have the chance to buy an LS6 vette localy in the $55-$60 000 range , it seems steep for a car you never hear about, but it's got original drivetrain, M-22, p.w. tank sticker, older resto but still looks good. Wasn't there only like 188 '71 LS6 Vettes built? How many could be still around? I remember seeing a "71 LS6 Registry" somewhere online. We had one here in NJ that ran NHRA SS/CA out of Truppi-Kling Competition. The car driven by Bernie Agaman was S/S champion in '74 or '75. These 71 LS6 Vettes were very powerful even with lower compression. They also had aluminum open chamber heads like the L88 and ZL1. --------One of the nicest Vettes I ever had. Nevada Silver/black leather with a 3:55 gear. Although not mentioned much they are the last of the solid lifter big blocks.They are really hard runners, and are valuable cars as well. Your price sounds good if the car is what you say. Just remember that too much resto at that price could get you top heavy...........Bill S

Bigblockhappy...ask about previous rust repair on that car that you are considering...23 inches of each rear frame rail and a cowl out of a '76 T-Top...for $42,00 US? You are better off dropping another $20K for the right car. I have been considering an LS6 Corvette myself and can tell you that the best of the best brings between $60K and $70K and takes a long time to sell. Good luck!

It seems you know of an LS6 vette that's had rust repair, did you look at it and is it white and outside Ontario?

Louis, White and in Quebec and owned by a very nice fellow who gave an honest description of the car to me via telephone - it is the same car you are considering - wants $55K CDN or best offer. It also had fender flares that were removed and maybe a front clip, but don't quote me on that as I didn't take notes after learning of the rust repair.
