Well,
I just took the plunge on this one. It required a $300 immediate down payment, which I am leary(sp) about, but the spelling looks ok. The price was not a "to good to be true", but a good deal none the less.
On further inspection of the pics, it has the chrome air cleaner dish, which means 4brl, if it is a # match 350, and has the 12bolt rear num match as well, then it may be a LM1?? I say LM1, as it has the 3 speed manual as opposed to a 4 speed, which I *think* was the only manual you could get with the SS350 option??

I hope that's not part of the floor board hanging down under the right door.

The muncie 3 speed was the standard manual transmission for SS350 and LM1. It was the standard trans for SS396 too for that matter. A saginaw 3 speed was the standard transmission for the 250HP 350 and lower horse V8's and 6 cylinders. I'd find out if the tranny is a saginaw or muncie 3 speed.

I see in the auction he says it has a "muncie" shifter, so if thats original, it likely also has the muncie trans, as the saginaw 3 speed did not have the word "muncie" embossed in the stick.
Oswego Il. is a few towns over from me here.
Known for one of the more modest, now defunct,Dragstrips.
There is more then one of us on this site that could go see it in person for you if you wish.

That would be awesome if someone was close enough.
I am still waiting on hearing from the guy. The only thing that I was scared of was the immediate deposit.
I did not realize that there was a muncie 3 speed, I thought all of the 3 speeds were saginaw's.
My first car in high school was a 69 with a 307, 3 speed (saginaw), and a posi 10 bolt. Man that car ran great!
I will post again when I get an address if anyone can take a glance I sure would appreciate it.

Well,
Looks like it is legit!
It is also an LM1. November 68 produced car!
It has the factory 12 bolt - Multi Leaf, and the muncie (you guys were correct) 3 speed manual. It also has the 4 barrel carb from the factory and all of the smog is even still there. The bad: Both front and rear floor pans need replacing. The rest of the car is not to bad rust wise, but has some needs.
Several people were apparently waiting to hear back from the guy wondering if it was a scam or not before doing the "buy it now" thing.
More info when I get the car here!
Thanks,
Rich
