Marlin, Favre play's his best when he and the team have a good 1st 1/4. When they have to come from behind, with injury's, he overplay's, if that makes since. I thought the game was over at 1/2 time , like the Houston game, another 4th 1/4 comeback, sole possession of 1st place thank's to the Viking's. The Eagle's and Patriot's are Superbowl bound!
Packer's defense leave's a lot to be desired along with the defensive line, they _uck!

In the biggest upset of the season, Miami scored two touchdowns in the final 2:07 to stun New England 29-28. Trailing 28-17, the Dolphins (3-11) scored on a Travis Minor run, then intercepted a pass deep in Patriots territory and went ahead on a fourth-down TD pass to Derrius Thompson. Tom Brady passed for three TDs but was picked off four times. New England (12-2) had won 27 of its previous 28 games.

Sounds like Home field advantage for the Steelers. http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif

What an awful and embarrassing display of late-game complacency!

Those guys had it sewn-up with about 3 minutes to go and an 11-point lead. On a lesser scale it was similar to the "1-out away from the championship"-1986 Red Sox. http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/frown.gif

I hope they learned their lesson - now they have to go into Pittsburgh.

But Rick, be careful... even the Steelers can get caught if they're not careful. "On any given day" should not be taken lightly in the NFL.

The lowly Pats just proved that last night!

See you in Pitt!

I agree. When looking at the great teams of the past like Green Bay, Dallas, San Fran, Giants, Steelers etc. Even when they had injuries they beat teams that were of a lesser caliber. In my opinion playing soft will not get you ready for the playoffs and will hurt the Eagles.

In January of 1964,the Beatles first came to America,& were seen by most as the Moral decay of the teenage society.
41 years later,Paul McCartney is now seen as the Wholesome replacemant after Last years revealing Debacle.

Rick, thanks!
The crowd was just relieved that the game was finally over - Eli Manning is looking better every week, and the Giants defense was very tough against the 'hawks. But we're in a good position with only two teams within one game (Carolina and DA Bears). Carolina has two games against Atlanta, plus Tampa, Dallas and New Orleans - a pretty tough row to hoe. Chicago has Green Bay twice, Pittsburgh, Atlanta, and Minnesota - they should win at least four of those games. Seattle has Philly, San Fran, Tennesee, Indy and Green Bay - if we can win four of those five I predict we will have home team advantage. If we lose only to Indy and Chicago wins them all, I don't know what the tie-breaker would be.

Should lock up our division next Monday night against the Iggles.

I'm sure I'll be hoarse tomorrow!

Game summary -

Eagles offense - 68 touches, 190 yards, 0 points
Seahawks offense - 59 touches, 194 yards, 21 points
Seahawks defense - 6 touches, 173 yeards, 21 points

In The Headlines:
A wave of animal cruelty has the World Wildlife Federation up in
arms.
On the first day of this new year a lion was found viciously
mauled. Aweek later, a bengaled tiger was discovered horribly beaten.
While the lion only had fresh wounds, the tiger appears to have been
suffering
regular beatings for years.

Just seven days after that, a colt was found battered. People at
the scene said it kept muttering something about not getting enough
protection. Hours ago, Denver authorities found another horse,
this
time a bronco, wandering the streets. The horse was not
physically
injured, but quite dazed and confused. When asked about the
incident,
the hapless horse said "I was at home and everything was fine. I
was about to feed my pet snake when he started choking and screaming
about some sort of terrible towel following it around."

Rumor has it that the next target will be some sort of bird, a
seahawk.

All of the victims report trying to peek behind a giant steel
curtain shortly before their incidents. As a result, the following
warning has been issued to all animals: Peek behind a steel curtain or you
may get
hit by THE BUS. http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/beers.gif

I am not even a football fan..just watch the last few games for fun...the game was just wrong..anyone that agrees with any off the refs calls needs to put down there beer goggles and take another look..hawks had a touchdown fair and square and there was nothing wrong with it..we all looked at the replay they both touched each other not grabbing or holding etc....if it had been the other way around I would say they had a touchdown as well...and the replay was very obvious the steelers ball hit on the 1 yard line not a touchdown... no big deal the steelers won..but would liked to have to seen it played fair...it was very obvious no one wanted the hawks to win..right up to the guys calling the game..I was amazed how obvious it was...going to be some heat over this one this week... http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/scholar.gif

[/ QUOTE ]

Even Michael Irvin, when watching the instant replay, agreed that he'd done that same thing at least 100 times in his career and both he and Steve Young thought there was no interference.

Then Rothesberger (sp?) knew he'd come up short and when he landed on the 1/2-inch line he quickly looked up toward the ref and slid the ball quickly into the end-zone. Yeah, yeah, the ball "crossed the plane" in the air before Rothes____? landed but he looked like a kid trying to steal candy at the supermarket when he looked up and slid the ball forward. He knew he wasn't in.

That was a home game for the Steelers too.

Okay, that's my rant on the game. Congrats to the Steelers and to Bill Cower.

I disagree, but I can't say I'm not biased, just like someone from WA can't say they aren't biased the other way... OK, so give the C-Hocks another touchdown...heck, throw in the extra point too.. Steelers STILL win, 21-17. http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/biggthumpup.gif

Glad the Steelers won. The Seahawks players are a class act, not one player complained about the refs. Pittsburgh was the better team that day, both teams played crappy.

Hopefully we can get Alexander next year, he's a free agent.

How is the plane of the goal line defined? Any part of the stripe, the middle of the stripe or the end zone end of the stripe? I'm guessing it's the first otherwise there's no way the QB's TD could have counted...

Ahhhh, but what happens if you give back the interference call and take away the second effort TD? That's a swing of 13 points before the Seahawks even kick the extra point. http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/dunno.gif

Maybe they should have widened the goal posts 2 feet too so Seattle could get the ball through... http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/blush.gif http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif Sorry, but IMO the Steel Curtain still would have prevailed. Seattle had a good team, just not as good as the Steelers... better luck next year.

What's interesting right now is the Headcoach of the Chicago Bears,Lovie Smith, has always said he wanted to be the Headcoach of the Dallas Cowboys...this is no secret to us,as that's were he came from, that's were his roots are.
The Bears owners-McCaskey family, took a chance on Lovie a few years ago,and hired him from Dallas,to be our Headcoach.
They paid him below scale,1.3 mill, and he agreed to it....Everyone was happy at that time.
He stuck it out and showed us what he was made of this season by making beating the Green Bay Packers his 1st priority, and getting to the SuperBowl his 2nd...He did both!
The Bears and Lovie had an opportunity to reissue a NEW contract with Lovie at the end of last season..both declined, thinking it was in both their best interest.-Turns out this benefited Lovie HUGE.
Today...Bill Parcells has suddenly left the Dallas Cowboys, and Lovie Smith is on his way to the SuperBowl, and has contract negotiations scheduled right after, win or lose, with the McCaskey family in February.
He also has the Dallas Cowboys organization "interested" in him at this very moment. The Bears organization is vigilant in keeping the Cowboys people away from him..
The McCaskey family is on record as stating they will pay him what ever he wants, and Lovie has stated he does not want to leave Chicago..
The media, local celebrities, organizations and mostly the Fans have all stated they want Lovie to stay here for eternity, and for the McCaskeys to give him the moon.
Donald Trump couldn't have scripted this anybetter. http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

I agree he is different, but that didn't seem to bother us around here in the past.
As long as he produced..and he did..he was Golden, and that standoffish personality of his just added to his odd mystique.
He was the main reason the Bears team had a winning season last year, and then they all fell short in the SuperBowl.
Rex completed more passes and did more heroics last year then most before him,and we all loved him for it.
Today the radio & Tv press are calling for his head. With that deer in the headlights look, expressionless attitude, and not near as much enthusiam as Brett Favre.
Now his playing ability has sunk down to match his odd personality and it seems to be backfiring on him.
All are claiming it's time for a change, and he should sit on the bench and give the backups a chance, which I'm sure will happen, but I'll bet that Rex will make us or another team proud again.
One year ago today, this area was Cheering the Bears 3-0 record, while denounceing the poor playing of the Chicago Cubs.
What a difference a year makes.. http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smirk.gif

Luckily we have a DVR here at work and I was able to watch the rest of the game when we got back about 3 hrs later. If Warner remains close to as hot as he was in this game watch out, Cardinals are a streaky team and as good as their QB, he can be pretty good. http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/beers.gif

Way to go Orange Crush.
Denvers' Defense,(in particular their front 4),all deserve MVP in my book.I haven't seen a defense that dominant in the SuperBowl since the '85 Bears.
Cam Newton was sacked 7X...The Chicago Bears did the same.
Watch the replays and see Carolinas offensive linemen all get pushed back on their heels as the pocket collapses.
That's where the game is decided...amazing Defense!

OK, now for a rant that I will bet you vets.. <<GRAEMLIN_URL>>/flag.gif...will get. As I was watching the Anthem ( Great job Lady Gaga <<GRAEMLIN_URL>>/flag.gif, very nice) I could not help but notice Cam Newton with his towel and hair net on his head and both hands clutching his shoulder pads. Cam, that's not where your hands go <<GRAEMLIN_URL>>/no.gif. I told my wife Cam just jinxed himself for a win, and glad it came true... <<GRAEMLIN_URL>>/grin.gif
I guess I am not the only one that noticed.

It's easy to be all smiles when things are going your way. You can see a persons true character when they are not.

The "incredible sulk" showed what kind of person he is.

I have boycotted the entire season due to kneeling. I have not watched one down of one game. I was considering burning all my JETS memorabilia on the front lawn, but have reconsidered. I have a lot tied up in it!
