Anyone know what these are for? I got them along with a sway bar and set of boxed lower control arms I bought for a 70 Chevelle SS. These were included, but furnished loose. I can't seem to figure out what they are, no part numbers on them anywhere and no obvious application. They almost look like bumper brackets or something. Slotted holes on one end. Thanks in advance to anyone who can help ID these.

Those are the F41 Rear support frame brackets. They bolt to the same support as the Boxed lower control arm, then trail up to the top of the mid Rear frame rail, over the pumpkin. They should be around 18 inches long. They prevent twisting of the frame, and cloners almost ALWAYS forget to include these. It's one of the first things I look for on a questionable car.

Chevelle frame reinforcement LH bracket #3918061 & RH bracket #3918062 used on 1968-70 Chevelle 327-350-396,& all w/8 cyl in 1971-72.They became included standard with the F41 in 1970,then ALL got them regularly in 71-72 as standard, including Monte Carlo.

Great info, thanks to all those who PMed me as well. Who says you don't get something for nothing? The fellow that included them with the arms and bar claimed they went "somewhere under there" but couldn't remember how or where. Looks like I've got another part of the F-41 package that I didn't even bargain for. Cool.

I'm looking for a pic of these F-41 support brackets in place. Can someone post an assembly manual pic or diagram of some sort for me? I'd like to try to retro fit these to a non-F-41 car and I'm still not entirely sure where they attach to the real rails. Would a non-F-41 car have holes for these anyhow? What type of hardware attached them? Thanks in advance for your help.

I can't post a picture diagram, but I can give you some resources that show them.
*P&A 30A,page 7-2P
*P&A 11,page 7-1
*1970-2 Chevelle/Elco/MC Assembly Manual,page 96,A1-2

The only HDWE required are Bolt,Nut,Washer. They bolt to the front perch of the Lower Boxed Control arm,on the inside of the frame,(facing the Driveshaft). Then extend up to the Mid frame support up over the rearend/Pumpkin.

Just a little more trivia ...

These were also on all "W" powered Oldsmobiles, Stage 1 Buicks, and high HP GTO's. http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/biggthumpup.gif
