I believe that's the one for sale now. He had another about a month ago. Maybe it's the same car and the deal fell through. I didn't have time to check out the last one so it very well could be the same car. He sells really nice stuff. Big coin I'm sure. Marc

He seems to put a heck of a lot of inspector's crayon on everything. I know this adds to the "just born" look but did they really have that many marks from the "box"?
WILMASBOYL78
10-06-2004, 05:14 AM
Some of the Canadian cars had a little more marking but not quite like that. My 70 Cdn L78 has a sticker on the inner fender and one set of xtra #'s on the firewall. These kind of photos don't show the resto details regarding paint, plating, etc. that you need to see. Up close and personal is the only way to buy a vehicle like this!!! http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/scholar.gif

I live just a few mile away from LMC. I'll drop in and look at the vehicle. The last black 69 L78 Nova he sold last fall for approx 50K CDN. (38K USD) was not as well done as this one. Are these the correct door panels? All panels I have seen (Including mine on my deluxe interior) have the white trim running horizontal across the top of the panel as opposed to vertical as in this vehicle. http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/dunno.gif

Those door panels are correct for a "standard" interior. However, this one now has the deluxe vinyl seat covers, and carpet, etc. So, it's hard tellin' what should be there.
Maybe it had the standard interior, and was improved during the restoration?

At a glance, I thought the last one looked nicer than this one. Once again, I didn't get a chance to check out all of the pics. I can't tell if it's my computer screen or the car but the side trim doesn't seem to line up straight. Maybe I'm looking crooked http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/dunno.gif Marc

I got an email from the person who bought this car? or the one before it from Legendary. He found my email via Kevin Suydam's site.
Here's the email he sent to me:
[ QUOTE ]
Finished in the factory colour of Tuxedo black with a black bucket interior. Powered by the numbers matching 396ci/375hp, L78 engine and a four speed transmission, power brakes, radio delete, dog dish rims with red line tires. A very rare Nova that is rust-free and has documentation (protect-o-plate). The resto is a few years old, but the car is still a nice head-turner, as you can see in the attached photos. This car war purchased at Legendary Motorcar Company. I have added a couple of guages, a tach and a points eliminator kit (still have points). If you haven't heard of Legendary, they do the TV show "Dream Car Garage" (http://www.legendarymotorcar.com/). They only deal in the real thing.
The interior is Excellent - The black bucket interior is in very good condition, with no evidence of wear at all. The seats, carpets, panels, and dash have been extremely well taken care of. The seats are in good condition with no rips or tears. There is a small tear in the passenger side sail panel, and the window whiskers need replacing.
The exterior speaks for itself in the attached photographs.
This car scored an 87 out of 100.
It would not take much to make this car perfect. It is a rare car since it is an L78, factory black, with buckets, 4-speed and radio delete. I am asking $60K USD.
Let me know if you want any particular photos of the car and I will send them to you.

The shifter setup looks odd to me and I have tracked a # of these cars the last couple of years and found quite a few that were converted. Maybe it is legit but I would like to see the POP and the vin on the trans as well as the other component ID's. You have to remember that most of these cars were raced back when and there are very few original unmolested ones left. Trans swaps were common, especially to auto from 4spd. Just my thoughts, gotta see the car to know the real story. TW

I think that this is the same car that was advertised on this site over a year ago. The car was out of McHenry Illinois and was priced here at $26,500. I know that Legendary bought the car, so I assume that Mr. Patel is the current owner? The original post is #45066 dated 7/12/03, Cars for sale section.
Bel Air, I'd like to hear more about this "supply and demand" concept? Sounds a bit like this "capitalism" I keep hearing about. The Canadian government is working hard to eliminate the idea before it catches on. http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/beers.gif

The first car described in this thread has just been listed on E Bay with a buy it now price of $2700. The photos have been stolen (they didn't even try to obscure the Legendary plates). Looks like the Camaro scammers are moving into Novas. The seller lists a Canadian address(stolen as well, I'm sure) Maybe they read my joke about capitalism in Canada and took it the wrong way. http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/dunno.gif Marc

Welcome to the site.. Part of the drill on cars for sale is the scrutiny they get from members on this site. The members have some of the finer collectible cars in the country, but more than that they have a wealth of knowledge and experience. Many cars are discussed on this site and the questions and answers help many who are new to the sport. Ultimately all cars speak for themselves and that can only happen by first hand inspection. Hopefully you will do well with your car, good luck. Tom Willimas http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/scholar.gif

Hey Dragonrider69,
Since this is a SuperCar site, and you have a really nice car http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/worship.gif that you're trying to sell...I figured I'd do you a favor! You had no problem emailing me out off of K. Suydam's site regarding your Nova!
This site has a LOT of VERY knowledgeable people, and LOTS of potential buyers http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif
There was a post regarding your particular car, so I posted pictures of it.
If you are so particular about anyone knowing your information, why did you send it to me in the first place?
If I offended you, I'm sorry. That was not my intention...My intention was to give yor car more exposure to people who are in the market for these types of cars.
Another option for you would be to list it on EBAY http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/frown.gif, or get in touch with Rich P, who is a musclecar broker who frequents this site quite often.
Finally, negativity will get you NOWHERE on this site, and slamming people is not cool. http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/scholar.gif

The trim tag is spot on, as there is no 1,2,or 3 on the bottom row. This number would indicate how many body moldings the car should have, in this case, none! The moldings would be drip rail, door frame, body side, or rocker. A 2 or a 3 on the bottom row would indicate some combination of the moldings.
Thanks Manishnark http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif
What do the 1970 Deuces show on their trim tags in this location?
Are they all void of this 1-2-3 number designation?

Yes, all deuces except one have this position blank. Only the gobi beige deuce of Jerry Albert has a number in this position, which confirms it's moldings. Also, the original owner pics of that car also show it with the moldings.
On a 1970 nova if it has an "In-Dash" tach showing a 6500 red line ...would that be a 375hp car if it came with a big block? http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/dunno.gif

Yes. I believe allen396 has a link to some pictures showing the 3 styles. The high horse cars had the top redline.

Hey John, here's some info I copied from another discussion forum/ info site. I wish I could remember which one it was so I could give them proper credit, but I had just copied it and stored it on my computer some time ago...
<font color="blue">Some people call it the Gauge Package. Some call it the In-dash Tach. Others incorrectly call it the SS-dash. But from 1968 until 1976 the optional RPO-U17 Special Instrumentation Package was a set of extra gauges that helped build the sporty image of the Nova.
First I want to clarify that RPO-U17 was NOT part of the Super Sport option. It was available on any V8 equipped Nova those years. The Special Instrumentation Package did include 4 extra gauges: a tachometer, an ammeter, oil pressure and water temperature. The tach was placed to the left of the speedometer in the location where the fuel level gauge was normally placed. This was to make it easier for the driver to see (when in reality, it was really too small to see and mostly blocked by the steering wheel). Because the fuel level gauge was replaced by the tach, it was moved to the console with the other 3 new gauges. The gauges were all electrical, so there is a special, additional wiring harness need to power them. You will notice that I said the gauges were located on the console. This means that if you wanted the U17 Special Instrumentation package you also had to order the RPO-D55 Front Compartment Floor Console. And since the floor console wouldn't fit with a bench seat, you also had to order RPO-A51 Bucket Seats. All these requirements made the U17 package a pricey option.
</font> As far as I know, the maximum redline was 5500 RPM, for the L78...

I don't know... could it be that mine has no chrome at all because of the radio delete option? In Greg's post where he has links to the 3 pics of the dash ( Chrome Dash Trim (http://www.chevynova.org/DashBezel.html)), they all have a spot for the radio...

I have never seen a plain back original bezel. Even the radio delete bezels followed the same three styles. The chrome was really vacuum metalized aluminium. This finish was easly cleaned off with some of the harsh household cleaners used since the car was made.

I've seen a factory chromed radio-delete dash bezel. There used to be one in my '70. I still have pictures of that part if anyone wants to see it.
