You should join Mr Norms club too....you can still get (I think) License frames and dealer stickers from him....look in the TEST forum...someone was testing a pic of Norms homepage !!! I went past the old dealership not long ago...glad I was armed..it's not real pretty anymore. !! I love the Chicago connection...Mr Norm/Nickey were big time places here.

Mr. Norms Grand Spaulding Dodge. 3300 W Grand Ave Chicago, IL Circa January 2003, picture was taken by me. My dads office is right behind where the pic was taken about 2 Blocks on Grand Ave. Building has literally been frozen in time since the days of GS Dodge!

Bob, my dad has a cool story where in 1967 his friend bought a 1964 Malibu SS off there used car lot. The car was Day 2 to the max with a 327, 4 speed, painted a metal flake blue, button tucked interior, Cragers, and glass packs! The kicker was the kid did not know how to drive stick so he brought my dad with him and his mother so my dad could drive the car home. My dad said that he was so fasinated by the used car lot that he never even went into the new car showroom to look at the new cars while he was there! http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/eek.gif http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Talk about rare cars...Mr Norms GSS Darts were hair raisers and next to impossible to find...they were Dodges COPO...Mr Norm pulled some strings to get a 440 stuffed between those fenders of a Dart... http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/3gears.gif

Ralph, I am sure that you know why the dealer was called GS Dodge. The place was right on the corner of Grand Ave and Spaulding on the North Side of Chicago.

Here is a REAL NOS Mr. Norms trunk decal that I have in my Chi-Town dealer memorabilia collection. They are different than the Mr. Norms Sport Club repops. The real ones are a darker blue printed on 3M reflective sheeting just like the REAL Nickey, Brigance, and other Chi-town area dealer Decals.

Joe when I took those pics it was a Sunday morning in January and probably 10 below 0. There were people that actually came out and approached my father asking what our business was there. They lived in the place across the street called The Victory Church which used to be Mr. Norms parts warehouse. The place is now a half way house for recovering drug addicts. They thought we were sent by the city to close them down.

X-plant. That decal is a repop on that car. You can tell because they are a bright blue instead of the original dark like French blue.

Joe...it's not a real people friendly area anymore...a few more blocks west gets you to the best damn hot dogs in Chicago...Jimmy's... a block or 2 south and you better have a vest on....

I haven't eaten at Jimmy's in a while...but that sure doesn't look like it unless they tore it down and started over,...there were no outside service windows and it was Jimmy's....if it's Jim's now it must have changed hands...but that looks too nice to be Jimmy's...their slogan was "give us a test, ours are the best" where did you get that pic anyway ?

Ralph,

What color is your Challenger? I'm curious as to where my old Mr. Norm's Hemi Challenger is now. Last I knew of it was in Bethesda MD in 96 or 97. I can post pictures of it in case you can't come up with pictures of yours http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/tongue.gif
