Working on a 69 Yenko Camaro Clone (Can only dream of the real deal)and need help with the exact location of the 427 cowl hood emblem. Anybody got a measurement from the back of the cowl to the back edge of the emblem from a real one. This is a street and occasional test and tune trip car, but I want it to be as accurate as possible. Thanks in advance.

I don't think there was a specific measurement, but generally Yenko placed these emblems in about the center (or even a little farther forward of center) of the raised portion of the hood when looking at the car from the side... much farther forward than the 302 emblems on a 69 Z. Honestly, theres really no "100% correct" placement of these or any other yenko emblems besides the tailpanel ones that utilize 2 existing factory holes. Your car looks pretty nice...If you want it to be "accurate" you should get some rocker panel spears on there too... all 69 camaros (including Yenkos) had them, and it looks "naked" without em'!

I'm guessing he's from the South...like say, Georgia, specifically around the Commerce area... http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/naughty.gif

Thanks for the info. In response to the other post here, I have filled out my profile. Sorry I missed the SCR this year. I seem to remember something about one recently in Pigeon Forge near Floyd Garret's museum. I stay very busy as a student minister so getting to some of the things I want to go to is tough sometimes.

Tim: were you the gentleman that wanted to measure the emblem placement on our Y-Camaro this past weekend in Commerce?

Yes, that was me. Do you happen to have a measurement you could give me now? How did you guys come out in the racing? We only stayed Saturday. What was your qickest time? Very nice car BTW. Thanks in advance for your help.

Many of these emblems seem to be placed right above the center
of the front wheels ! http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/dunno.gif

We went a best of 12.42@112+ on Friday, but chased our tune the entire time...wierd our down there. Since we were a Pure Stock car running in the Stock Appearing class we were doomed from the beginning, so naturally we went out in the first round.

As for a measurement, I can grab one for ya, but honestly, there isn't a "true" measurement. Back in the day they were just thrown on, and close really was close enough...I'll try and grab a # this afternoon for ya...

Thanks. That's pretty quick on those tires. Ever ran it with slicks? What was the time? Another question, did all Yenko Camaro's come with the bent neck radiator?
Thanks, Great site.

what size tire are you running in the rear? what size wheel and back spacing? did you cut the qtrs to make it work? Mark B.

The wheel is an American Racing Torque Thrust D 15" x 7" with 3 3/4" rear spacing. The tire is a M/T ET Street 28 x 11.50. The lip has been rolled but that's it. No hacking or other body mod's. They do not hit anywhere. I did have some 8" Pro Stars on it and they scrubbed the fender lip a little on the top end of a 10.90 pass, but I rolled the lip and that was stopped. Got any pictures of your clone?

I am currently working on a Yenko Chevelle clone. During my research of badges, measurements etc, I found out that Don Yenko hired his teenage daughter and other high school kids to apply the badges and stripes. This was by no means a standardized process. They apparently just placed them in the "ballpark". I am just looking at pics of real Yenkos and doing the best guess process. Good Luck. By the way, your Camaro looks really great!
