After seeing the C6 in person and driving the car, we have cancelled our order and would like to find another MINT, LOW MILE '02 - '04 Z06. Any leads would be appreciated http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/beers.gif

The C6 is a very nice car, but as an exec at GM drivetrain described it to me this weekend, "It is so refined now that it has lost all of it's character and has really become a woman's car". Don't flame me ladies, these are his words! He is bang on with his comments. The car is so quiet, rides so nice, handles so well...that you don't even know you are in a performance car. I also don't care for the exposed headlights and sloped rear glass. I sold my '02 Z06 in anticipation of the C6, but now really regret doing so. The Z06 is a really fun car to drive that sounds amazing for a new car (without mods) and it is a super value. The new Z06 is being revealled in January with 500 hp and the same basic body styling. It is rumored that it will list in excess of $70K US.

Knowing the way Clill goes through cars, I doubt he still has his...but that would have been perfect!

I have an 02 for sale, but it's a T1(SCCA)prepped car. Would consider collector car trades.

The woods are full of them, try here-

Zedder what was your own impression of he car ?? Was it quick ? Refinement is not a bad thing

Belair, It is a very nice car, but more refined than I like to be honest. Now remember that I am used to a Z06, with its extremely cool exhaust note. The C6 is so quiet that even my wife complained about it. If you get on it, it does sound much better. But at idle, you hardly know it is running.

Yes, it is definitely quick and handles very well. The best 1/4 times I have heard so far is 12.7 sec by one of the magazine drivers. Super seats, and a number of neat interior functions like push button start etc. Cosmetically, I like the wheels and overall dimensions, but I dislike the chopped off rear end and sloping glass. I am getting used to the front end, but prefer pop-up headlights. Finally, I just haven't gotten used to the wheels being pushed out to the corners with very small overhangs like a BMW or Porcshe. I'm sure it will grow on me more, but I don't like it enough right now to buy one. My guess is that many others feel the same way as many dealers have them in stock and the discounts are already happening.

When we were at Carlisle we got to see a C6 and C5 side-by-side, and my wife and I both agreed that we liked the C5's looks better.

Now, a C6 with Z51 makes for a very nice car and probably is better than a Z06 for frequent driving, but I only use my car occasionally, so I like the more aggessive nature of the Z06.

Thanks Kevin. Unfortunately, the car has to be registered in the US for 6 months before I can bring it into Canada and maintain the factory warranty. It also has to have 7,500 miles on it, but I can handle that http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/naughty.gif Thanks again http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/beers.gif

Mark..go ahead and get it I'll keep it for 6 months and drive it till it has the 7500 miles http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/naughty.gif joking aside a friend of mine has a z06 and a c6 they just got. the c6 is a really nice car like you said, after he drove them both he likes his z06 better, to him the z06 has the muscle car feel and looks. he's gonna keep the z06 they got the c6 for his wife anyway. we had them both plus my c5 at a car show lined up and I do like the c6 but I like the c5 better I'll stick to the c5 for now it did take me awhile to get used to the c5 look maybe I'll get used to the c6 but their were alot of people that like the c6 at the show and some hated it.

Eddie: Your friend and I think alike http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/cool.gif There are few unmodified new cars around that can give the kind of rush that a Z06 can and nothing for the same money!

No problem, I'll send the Z06 your way for a few months...just be sure to put your ZL1 on the car hauler when it arrives so I am not left with nothing to drive http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/biggthumpup.gif

Thanks for the lead Ron, I'll keep it in mind. I am really hoping to find a private deal though so I can have a better chance of verifying how the car was cared for.

Thanks again,

Why would Chevy want the car to have 6 months and 7500 miles on it before giving a warranty? That sounds crazy. I'm not calling you crazy, just Chevrolet for that qualification.

They did it to stop the grey market that was developing due to the weak Canadian dollar - Harley did the same thing. Many US buyers were buying new Corvettes and Harleys in Canada and because of the exchange rate they could sell them at a profit in the US. This upset US dealers who cried foul and GM created this policy to put an end to it. The reverse is true now, I can buy a new Corvette in the US for full list and still save $9,000 CDN over buying here for full list. That's why I'm looking for a lightly used US car http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Zedder, I have a very good friend who is a Vette/Camaro enthusiast that has a very clean 04 Z06. It is the special edition that is blue with the silver stripes and is a 6 spd. It has been registered in the U.S. for 6 months, miles are low but not sure how many. He has been talking about selling it. PM me if you are interested.

Thanks DW, I've got two pretty good irons in the fire so far, so let's wait and see how I make out with them. If things fall through, I'll give you a shout. Thanks again http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/beers.gif

Another good resource (dealership wise) for Corvettes is Karl Chevrolet in Ankeny, Iowa. Seems as though I heard/read somewhere that they are one of the Nations largest Vette carriers, and have a tendancy to purchase/rework cars much like back in the Yenko/Nickey/Berger/Motion heyday. Just a thought.

No, the guy who bought it heavily modified the car and just sold it at the end of this summer. He only put about 4,000 km on it. I prefer my newer cars stock.
